Video Help on Adobe Premiere

Post by GuardianX » Mon Jun 06, 2005 7:08 pm

Okay, so I'm a first user of Adobe Premiere... but I won't ask a lot of questions. Mainly this:

I uploaded two pieces of footage (.avi files) that required som VFW Codec to be uploaded into Premiere. So I downloaded the Codec, blah, blah, uploaded the two files into Premiere.

Though, for some reason, when I stick the files onto the timeline and play them on the Monitor Window, the screen is black and shows no footage.

Here's what I mean:

If anyone could provide a solution to this, I'd be really grateful.

It sounds like you are using AVI files with MPEG-4 video streams (and that includes DivX, XviD, 3ivX, etc.). Don't.

Any suggestions on what I should do? I can't upload those two certain files without 3ivX, or else it says something about an unsupported compression.

1) Convert the clips you need to a lossless codec like HuffYUV or Lagarith

OR

2) Serve the AVIs with AVISynth, which resolves many of the issues associated with trying to use these AVIs in an editor like Premiere

Okay, well, I tried running this file through VirtualDub to turn it into a lossless codec, but the video doesn show up. On the bar at the bottom of the Window it says "VideoSourceAVI error: The source image format is not acceptable. (error code -2)"

I'm trying to seek all the help I can get because this is a key file of footage for my AMV.

By the way, I have a friend who has the same file from the same source, yet the file he has seems to work perfectly on his Premiere.

Maybe I'm just missing something?

Any more people out there that can help me? The audio works fine, but the picture just doesn't show in the corner monitor. If I were to save and export the AMV with that same footage, would it still probably be black?

Oh I had the same problem. Apparently there was something in this codec pack that fixed the problem. Try this it might have the codec in there that'll help. Its not the one that i used but its worth a shot.

Maybe if you remember that codec that you have, it may help.
