My first animes were Unico (the reeeeeally old trio of anime movies about a little pink-haired unicorn) and Poochie ^_____^ both when I was about 4 and watched over and over again till I was about 7. . . I feel so out of the loop for I have never watched Sailor Moon, Speed Racer or DBZ. ;_; Then again I didn't have cable. ^^;; So I was spared the eeeeevils of dubbing.

The next anime I saw after those was Gundam Wing which I bough a fansub off e-bay when I was 14. I bought it for the gay that so many idiots promised me and it wasn't there! So I then bought a slew of real YAOI. X3

Odd as it may seem, the first thing that was ever DESCRIBED to me as anime was Devil Man. This was when I first heard of anime's existence.

Before that, I had seen anime shows before, granted I didn't know it at the time, on Nickelodeon and other cable TV channels.

Shows like Noozles, Maya the Bee, and this other show with Koala Bears stick in my memory of a childhood from long ago. I also remember Grimm's Fairy Tales which had some pretty cool stuff and pretty accurate tellings of the original stories. They WERE quite grim.

Granted, I was around 6 at the time, but for kids, these shows were pretty good. The ending of Noozles was definitly NOT your typical kids show ending (it involved dodging the destruction of two planets from two universes).

i remebr all those old nick shows, what about that one show that told stories and the opening had that little fairy flying around, i think they did red riding hood and one about a forest sprite or something helping the animals by writing a letter to all the town folk.

I mentioned that! Grimm's Fairy Tales was the show. The one with the sprite trying to help the animals communicate with the humans was a TV special I believe, or at least that's how it aired.

I remember the sprite could turn herself invisible until she sneezed. This played an important role when she rode on the back of a crow while invisible, landed on the window sill of one of the people's houses and then talked while the crow moved his mouth to her words. All was going well until she started sniffling! (Childhood... such sweet memories)

My favorite of the Grimms Fairy Tale ones was the "Story of the Princess' worn-out shoes". It had this kingdom whose King had three daughters. Each morning, their shoes were always scuffed and worn as if through dancing, and the King was getting very upset that his girls were sneaking off somewhere each night. Concerned, he hired a different watch-man each night to make sure they didn't leave, but each night the princesses would give a glass of wine to the watch-man who would then promptly fall asleep.

Once the King finds out that the watch-man fell asleep at his post, he would throw them in the dungeon. This continued until one man arrived at the kingdom and heard that if anyone could stay awake through the night and watch over the princesses, then they would be richly rewarded. While his arm was in a sling, the man felt confident that he could solve the mystery.

On the night where he was put on guard outside of the princesses room, the girls came to him with wine, as usual, but he didn't fall for it and pretended to drink. When they weren't looking, he poured the wine into a plant, and then pretended to fall asleep. Once they were gone, he opened his eyes and peeked through their door to catch them leaving. To his surprise, they stepped on the floor and a large door opened up out of the woodwork. The princesses hopped in and went down a large set of stairs.

Following after them, the man tried as best as he could to keep up with the princesses, but to no avail. It was if they were dazed and floating towards somewhere. Losing them, the man wasn't sure what to do until he saw two demons arguing amongst each other in the cavern he had journeyed into after the princesses.

The two minor demons were arguing about who should possess these magic items they had found. One was a cloak of invisibility, and the other was a magic pair of boots (I think). The man decided to take advantage of the situation and volunteered to solve the demon's problem. They would each take 30 steps away from the two items and then once they were far enough, they would run as fast as they could and whoever got to the items first got to keep them. The man would referee and while uncertain how the man got there, the two demons agreed.

Running as fast as they could to the items, the man was standing next to them with a big grin on his face. Right before the two demons got there, he snatched them up and wrapped the cloak around him. BONK! The two demons ran into each other, and realized they had been tricked. Now the man had the boots and cloak! Unable to find the man because of his invisibility, the two demons cursed him as the man continued his search for the princesses.

After some searching, he finally found them in what appeared to be a large ballroom. They were dancing! Three strange, yet handsome, gentlemen were dancing with the three princesses, and as they danced, the man noted that this was how the princesses were getting their shoes worn and scuffed! What was worse was that with the cloak of invisibility on, the man could see the three gentlemen's true forms!

They were monstrous demons that had the princesses in a spell. Before long, they would be able to consume and take the girls for their own evil purposes. Somehow, the man was able to snap the princesses out of it, and leading the way and using the items he had picked up, he fled as fast as he could with the princesses to the giant staircase leading back to their room. The demons were getting closer and the cavern around them was caving in. Even the staircase was pulling away from the trapdoor!

With the demons in pursuit, the man fended them off until the princesses could get to the exit, and at the last moment, he was able to get out of the cavern, and seal off the door. By the time morning cave, the portal to the demon's cave was closed, and the curse on the princesses had been lifted.

I believe the man, upon solving the mystery, was rewarded handsomely, and even got the opportunity to date and wed one of the princesses. It was a cute happy ending.

DOES ANYONE ELSE REMEMBER THIS!?
