Here's an idea: you put together a questionnaire with fairly specific questions, and we'll help you by answering it.
Otherwise, the current for of it is rather vague and, well, we don't want to just write a whole essay on the subject on here for you![Rolling Eyes ](./images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

QUESTIONS!? PFFFT! Why be so passive?
I've done papers on anime before, and have written what might as well be freakin' essays on the subject here in the boards.
Here are some hypotheses that you can use:
1) Anime is popular in the U.S. because of the unique perspective of the Japanese culture that it brings. It makes the viewer curious about Japan.
2) Anime is popular in the U.S. because it tackles subjects that would normally not be touched by American animators on a large-scale level. (Independent 5-minute shorts... yes)
3) Anime is popular in the U.S. because the way it tells a story in a continuing arc with compelling characters and strong intelligence make it an enjoyable experience.
I think you'd have some good arguments with those hypotheses. There are plenty of books out there for research, and you might just find them at your library!![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Hope that helps!

Another reason it's popular is how it looks.
Can any of us deny that the first time we saw an Anime, we said "I've never seen a cartoon look like that before - that looks COOL!"
Part of Anime's allure is that it combines the best aspects of cartoonish animation with realistic animation into a graphically interesting pleasing medium. When you enjoy how a show looks, you're more accepting of the show as a whole usually.

I've tried that before. Didn't work out too well. The proctoral assassins the PTA sent out were a pain to deal with! Why don't you write the whole damn thing for him

And good suggestion there Emil! Why didn't I think of that?

P.S. You're in Rochester, right? Heard about the opening of Hammer-Girl Anime? Only anime goods store (and I mean nuttin' but anime, manga, toys, wallscrolls, plushies, clothing, 12 different flavors of Pocky (chocolate banana is SOOOOO good), and more!) in all of Rochester? It just opened up a few days ago.
