Best programs for making AMVs?

Post by Lord Raenef » Fri Jul 01, 2005 1:02 pm

Which programs do you think would be best for someone who has never made an AMV before, but would like to make it a hobby?

Use the Windows Movie maker 2...

You won't be able to produce a spectacular video, but, it will help teach you the concepts and linear edditing. Use it for one or two videos then move on to something a little higher gear. That's what I did, and I am just now moving up to Premier, and I am very glad I had the WMM2 experience.

That and WMM2 is free, and when using it you won't focus too much on video quality, you will focus on the video it'self. The linear edditing will make you crawl before you walk and before you run... Or something like that.

Just me...

bleh..
Annoying, obnoxious and opinionated.

You should use windows movie maker, because not only is it relatively easy to start with, but it offers almost no effects, which challenges you to get the best out of using just footage rather than just putting clips together and adding effects.

I'd deffinentally go with Windows Movie Maker 2, but the clips it makes tend to be really long. It's got the easiest interface to work with, too.

ok movie maker 2 for now.. make about 2-5 amvs with it... but try to improve between each one then move on to Vegas, if you want to you can use premiere, but i think Vegas is better, not that much of a difference. Also later you can even learn adobe after effects, but thats an extra :)

The interface is a bit easier IMO in Ulead Videostudio 9, so you might want to take a look at that as well. It's basically a rediculously powerful WMM

I'm a newbie too, and I started with Ulead Media Studio 7. Overlay is easy to use and compression is made SUPER simple! Trust me it's easy to use--well after I printed out the 400 page manual at my college, lol, like I was going to waste my ink and paper!
