Where'd "Do the Locomotion" come from?

Post by getbent_001 » Sun Jul 03, 2005 1:55 am

I noticed not long ago that my favourite band, Orange Range, ripped off the song "Do the Locomotion", calling the new song, "Locomotion. The exact lyrics say "Come on baby, do the locomotion!", which I though was really weird. J-Rock ripping off english songs...it could be a parody for all I know. Evidently, I'm not Japanese. Anyway, where's that song from? Who wrote it? It's bugging me. I heard it somewhere...maybe in a movie.....TV show....not sure.

"Locomotion" was originally recorded by Little Eva in 1962, and was most famously covered by Grand Funk in 1964. Other groups that have recorded a version include Van Halen and OMD.
