While there is a lot of "old school" anime out there... I am scratching my head to remember which was dubbed first and brought over here. Speed Racer definately. Space Cruiser Yamato was another one, but it was titled "Starblazers" with Americanized names and hacked up plot. Gatchaman was shown on ABC's saturday morning line up of cartoons under the title "Battle of the Planets".... that was a bastardized version if I ever saw one.
All of those shows I remember seeing on American television in the 1970's... I remember seeing Voltron (two incarnations of it), Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospedia in the 1980s. Gigantor I only first saw on American TV in the 1990s.

Yup, that's it! For anime made in 1960, I guess it's not bad...TaranT wrote:Unfortunately, that picture at imdb.com is way off. It's from one of the newer series. The animation in Alakazam actually looks like this and this.madbunny wrote:Ooohhh. You want OLD.
Then you want one of, if not THE first anime ever brought over.
It's called Saiyu-ki. Alternatively it's called Alakazaam.
Yes, yes it really is. Weird too.
Thanks.
