I just picked up this anime from Suncoast and was wondering what people know about this series. I was told that it was really good but I have not heard very much about this show and want to make sure that I did not buy a bad piece of anime.

It's a high paced highschool fighting series. It gets pretty deep into the characters profiles and keeps up a good pace of fighting. The anime isn't as violent or racy as the manga but it's still really good. You'll definity get the opening theme "Bomb ya Head" stuck in your head. If I had to rate the series:
Story / Plot - 7.5
Action - 9
Comedy - 8
Re-watch value - 7
Over-all viewing pleasure - 8
I say it's aleast worth watching. The fact that they have a black main character named Bob is enough to watch it in my opinion.

Lots of fanservice...
A sort of half assed side love story... and lots of reasonably well animated fighting.
If you liked Ikkitousen, you'll probably like this one.
A fun Ikkitousen-video (not mine)

I liked Ikki's ending far better than this one and Ikki's cat sex girl designs got me better too.
However, Oh Great!'s animated manga [which you see in the intro, go fig] does well, I just wish the ending wasn't so holed...

You're definately right about the ending. It's a really half assed way to end the show. Just about the only thing worse they could have done was to have Tarzan's Cheetah run out and start doing backflips while everybody laughs.OmniStrata wrote:I liked Ikki's ending far better than this one and Ikki's cat sex girl designs got me better too.

this is licensed?? how the heck did I get it offa anisuke than???? Aah oh well... my rant:
WORSE ENDING EVER! I can take to be continued endings like Blood or Berserk etc. Or just plain bad ones like Last Exile's BUT THIS STUPID PEICE OF SHIT JUST GOT GOOD?? I like 'half-assed' love storys ok?? (Don't know what's half assed about it though, their's more than a few points to it if you pull it all together) Even the op and ed songs take forever to get used to (like 20 episodes of blah, first 5 of 'GAWD SOOOOO GENERIC AHH! I SAW THIS IN ONE EPISODE OF EXCEL SAGA!') but really relate in more ways than one (well the ed, the op is just fanservice). Maybe the last episodes aren't that good it's just that your just so happy that it's almost done that you just THINK it is... and then the end and your like 'did I miss something DON'T MOCK ME!!'
OK done.

The story isn't over guys... whether or not what's been animated so far is the actual ending of the show still hasn't been determined. If it is the end, then the show really isn't that filling, but it does have some seriously awesome fights.
It is bizarre though that they'd create 24 episodes, then suddenly decide to make 2 OAV episodes that really don't cap off the show in any way, but only tease you about where the story could go next.
I'm willing to bet if it sold well here, then Geneon would look into another season. They helped finance it from the start. Problem is, most people probably won't buy it in the US without knowing what it is or positive word of mouth (that most people won't give).
Regardless of the "Ok, what the hell? Where are my main characters and why are we stuck in this '2 years ago' nonsense?" this is probably the best fighting show I've seen.

I listen to "Bomb A Head" everyday. Got the M.C.a.T. CD when I was out in Japan and it's the coolest disc ever, so much variety.MAS PRODUCTIONS wrote:You'll definity get the opening theme "Bomb ya Head" stuck in your head.

That's the way I feal about the last half of Tenshi No Konaimiki (sp?? aka A Cheaky Angel) that everybody hates (the ending still sucks but not as much as this one... I mean it it ends there). I mean, sure it changes focus dramatically, sure their stuck fighting for their passed (seems to be a common theme here ) but if you just get with it, it's the best (ie most intense) action I've ever seen. Truthfully on par with this, maybe, as I was cupping my hands in anticapation repeatedly at the end but for some reason I didn't like this action in the end. It just... seemed... toooooo decicive, like a naive answer, fighting is rareley the only answer, grasshopper.

actually the end to Tenshi is not that bad... not what I expected to happen, but not that bad... it's just the extreme cheese involved in getting to it! I actually had flashbacks in the begining of Tenjo Tenge ;p. Yes I tend to hang with the crappy animes to see if they get better, just as long as they have a single aspect that I kinda' like (only thing I liked about TT at first was the QUALITY of the animation... and the break dancing in the op ;p NOT the overexagerated chests, those just about made me sick acturally... only Chiakka was what I considered cute, I like some meat on my women not just two big boobs and long hair, and legs...)

Well, the problem is that many of the anime that have been mentioned are also ongoing manga. Tenshi na Konamaiki just seems as if they ran out of funding and had to tie things up quickly; Tenjo Tenge might be the same way.
Berserk, on the other hand, never, ever had a second season in the works. Anyone who's read the manga know that several things were completely left out of the series, such as Puck, the Skull Knight and what REALLY happened to poor, little Rickert. Those aren't small things and it would've been much easier to just leave them in if they were planning on continuing Berserk.
Anywho, what I'm trying to say is this: next time you get pissed off at a crappy ending, it's probably because the manga it's based on is still going and the show didn't have high enough ratings to justify a new season.
