I think the level of knowledge of the show required for video understanding is up to the creator. Some people like to make sure their vids are cohearent for all viewers, regardless of their experience with the source, but that's truly a rather limiting way to make some AMVs. When you do that to yourself you cut out things like un-obvious lyric synching and often would get chastised for having "random clips." I think it's unfair to broadly catagorize so many vids as bad just because their is most likely a lack of understanding.

Personally I really don't like to watch vids for animes that I haven't seen because I prefer the need for source intamacy. I makes things so much more interesting and much less shallow. I don't know about you but when you're watching a bunch of vids for something you've never seen everything is being taken at face value. =/

Most anime fans could tell you the premise of Evangelion, but does that mean they'd get every little nuiance of an AMV if they'd never seen the show? Heck no. Many fans of the show get confused sometimes. I could tell you all about the premise of Cowboy Bebop without ever having seen an episode. Knowing how to read summaries, while helpful in deciding whether or not to buy a show, is not a good way to claim expertise on the source. Especially when going agaisnt someone who has a Fruits Basket icon dude.

Seriously though, Fruits Basket is liscenced and for a 26 episode series to be on only 4 DVDs is a steal. Just buy it an make your own over the top hilarious vid that we will all bust a gut rolling on the floor with laughter over.

If Shigure and Kagura are married, then there's more than just that alleged Tohru/Kyou/Yuki triangle goin' on. :?

And really, if think Newtype read that, then you aren't reading it properly.

Makes me wonder why all anime can't be released that way... It's definitely the best deal I ever got on a series. Stupid Chobits and its stupid $220 price tag because we couldn't get the stupid thing in a stupid box set. Stupid! *growl*

I heard that FUNimation thought that series wouldn't be a huge hit among the masses so they decided to pack as many episodes into a few volumes. The individual volumes sold quite poorly, but that changed ever since the manga became very popular and FUNi released the entire boxset at a damn good price.

Okay, okay, so I'll pull out the Newtype and re-read the Fruits Basket section. And yes, I did realize that the icon was Shigure in dog form in the tub with the paper.

But that's still no excuse to swear at me. That's just mean! :x

Anyway, so the entire series is on 4 DVDs... and this box set costs how much now? I just might be tempted here...

What kind of price do you guys usually see in shops?

The retail price for the boxset is $99.98, but I bought it for about $67 in Best Buy.

It's $66.99 at Best Buy. Go get it. You really can't beat that price. That's only $16.75 a disc, and like we said, it's 26 episodes on 4 discs. Divided by episode, that's.... a mere $2.58 per episode. That's, like, almost unbeatable. Especially for a show that's this damn good.

BTW, I made a Fruits Basket comedy video called "The Yuki and Kyo Show" a while back, and I'd like to think that, though short, it's pretty damn funny. :)

Their price has lowered. I checked them out when I bought mine from best buy, and they were more expensive. (I was shocked, seriously.)
