Almost everything you just said is wrong. Mp3, mpeg 1 and 2, and wmv are all lossy compression formats. They take away most off a media's data in order to achieve the compression rates which they do. The only way to edit lossy video is through avisynth. But even then you should be working with d2v files (through vob dvd's) so you loose as little quality as possible when it doing a final compression. Just have a read of this.Koran wrote:LOL
no worrys
yes you can just import them in to Wmm and import your audio aswell. but make sure your audio is in WAV or MP3 format and your footage is in MPEG 1 or 2 or WMV.
Thats it GOOD LUCK
Video editing, getting the clips

Okay.
Read the guides. Printed out enough to make a large book, and made my AMV.

By the way, I'd like opinions.

Wow.. I thought MPG format is good, I mean MPG(MPEG) is the usual type of movie file you want to use that doesn't require any codec. MPG is good, I don't know what your talking about, but okay. To me, MPEG and AVI are both good.bum wrote:Almost everything you just said is wrong. Mp3, mpeg 1 and 2, and wmv are all lossy compression formats. It DOES require a codec: the MPEG-1 (or -2, depending on what kind of MPEG file you've got) codec. It's just that everyone and their mother can already play MPEG-1 files without having to get any new software. Or so it seems.V13tB0i wrote:Wow.. I think there may be some confusion here.
From what I've read MPEG, WMV, and the like are for final output. My question had to do with the video being used to edit and create the AMV that would finally be compressed into MPEG, WMV, or whatever.
For that, it seems AVI gets used, when compressed with HuffYUV, Lagarith, or some other lossless codec. (Not entirely sure what all this means, but that seems to be the situation.)

Yes, you've pretty much got it.Brigid wrote:From what I've read MPEG, WMV, and the like are for final output. My question had to do with the video being used to edit and create the AMV that would finally be compressed into MPEG, WMV, or whatever.
