Downloading Anime onto your GBA or DS

Post by CerebralAssamite » Sun Jul 17, 2005 3:23 pm

Before mods being to click on that lock topic button hear this out.

From this article you can PAY (at a vending machine) in japan to download an episode of Pokemon (so far) onto a blank gba disk. Wouldn't it be great if they could license other anime as well? Then release it to the world.

I think that would be cool, but more likely then not we'll see them on UMD discs (PSP) before anything else.

They already have something similar to that in the US. They've released GBA versions of Pokemon, Dragon Ball GT, and Sonic X, to name a few.

Geneon has already released Appleseed and Samurai Champloo on UMD. Gungrave is coming.

Heh, me neither.

Alright, have any of you heard about the Play-Yan? It is a special device that works with GBA or DS. It is a GBA cartrige that has a slot for a SD card to go in. If you have a device that can write data on a SD card, than you can put music, movies, pictures, etc. Although, I would have to reccomend that you use a PSP for that simply because of the screen. But hey, the Play-Yan should work if you don't have a PSP.

'Tis me first post!

Yes I sounded like a pirate just now.

Sounds kinda dodgy. Dont think it would be much fun having to squint at such a tiny screen for 22 minutes. Then again mpeg4 players have bein on sale for a while now.

Agreed. They cost more than the DVD and don't have special features. I just rent them from Gamefly. They are great for watching on road trips or on lunchbreaks at work. Then I just mail them back.

In that case it would be cheaper to buy the avi thing for gba and a 512MB flash rom, or a memory stick for the psp and just encode the video yourselt. You'l be able to fit at least a few eppisodes on their if you encode it at a low enough quality, seeing that the gba's and psp's screen is much smaller than a non portable device.

Sounds interesting... Unless the DS or the PSP had web capibilities it would be technically "uploading" though..
