I hear the same thing about Nadia, how the bunch of episodes that take place on the island are just filler and a waste of time, but they were personally some of my favorite episodes in the series. To each their own I guess ![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)

I definitely have to agree with Otakuman22, Sailor Moon is the WORST anime for the filler episodes. I have nothing against fillers, but they do tend to get annoying. I was watching some of my Sailor Moon Stars DVDs last night, and one whole DVD was basically all filler episodes. It annoyed me to the point of killing the darn disc.
But usually, filler episodes are good. They're usually funny, have the slightest character development, and are just plain weird. The only time I'd get annoyed by filler episodes if the story was like this...
1) Action Picks Up
2) The Bad Guy Appears, Reveals His Plan and Kills Someone
3) They Fight, Then the Bad Guy Disappears and the Episode Ends
If there was a filler right there, I'd die. But that doesn't really happen. It only happens when nothings going on.
Like when InuYasha had that string of Filler episodes. So Annoying. >.<

wow otakuman...extensive as usual...
basically, i like filler, personally i would much rather see the whole of the eva cast make a trip down to the beach rather than watch another fight with an angel..
sometimes fillers are needed- sialor moon was popluar so they thought lets cash in on this..it took 200 episodes for people to start realising its time to stop watching
i think the conclusion is filler= good, in moderation- and that is my final thought

Removing the island episodes would have made it a leaner series. The island episodes were mandated by the television station after how popular the series was. Gainax was not able to animate all of them, so they went to a Korean company to do some of the work. This accounts for some of the uneven model work when you compare those episodes to the earlier ones.greenjinjo wrote:I hear the same thing about Nadia, how the bunch of episodes that take place on the island are just filler and a waste of time, but they were personally some of my favorite episodes in the series. Did we really need to see them make mechanical Kings? Did we need to see a few Roadrunner gags that just impossible. Did we need to see King's nads as much as we did? The series was grounded in so many serious and what seemed realistic or plausable things. I love character exposition, but some of the island episodes worked against the series I think.
Nadia is one of my favorite series of all times... I can't stay too upset at it for long.
