Is it just me, or do I feel like I walked into the second page of a thread all of a sudden?

First off, why would they do what?

Make Luffy sound like a kid?
Re-do the music?
Edit out blood and guts?
Change some of the words to make more sense to US audiences?

Well I can answer a few:

1) Because Luffy DOES sound a bit like a kid in the Japanese track, but the US dub voice sounds TOO kiddy.

2) That was bad judgement on 4Kids' part. They thought it'd be more hip. STUPID STUPID PEOPLE!

3) It's on syndicated Saturday morning TV! What do you expect? Just be glad that the Arlong saga got in there and some other story development points!

4) I've seen some creative use in Japanese to English translations before. Too literal, and it can sound REALLY boring! (Wrath of the Yotoden or something like that) Too far, and it just becomes dumb! (Thank goodness he was wearing an asbestos suit!) Right now, the dub is towards the dumb part, especially since they have to re-do a good portion of dialogue in order to match their editing. (Yeah right, Sanji has a SUCKER that he SMOKES! HMMMM... EDIT MAYBE!?)

All in all, for the love of all that is good, if 4Kids can release Shaman King uncut (64 episodes of Shaman goodness coming our way!), then there is NO REASON that they can't do the same with One Piece, WHICH THEY BETTER! And it better have original Japanese tracks too or HEADS WILL ROLL!

Sure One Piece is 200+ episodes, sure, but that's still no excuse why 4Kids can't put the time and effort into translating them all and releasing them uncut! If they've already translated and voiced a cut version, and if they do this for all 200+ episodes (it may take a while), then there is no reason why they can't release an uncut DVD WITH the original Japanese track WITH the subs on it! It just seems like an easier way to release it without having to do all the voices and such!

Speaking of which, I got to get the Shaman King DVDs! They've almost finished the entire series on 4Kids, and I want to see the full uncut stuff!

P.S. To help avoid confusion, can you put stuff I say in quote tags? Thanks. :)

Well, at least they did better than the company that dubbed the Megaman NT Warrior anime. i have no problems with it, but where i usually post i'm always hearing 2 people making a big fuss over a little thing. "Protoman's sword looks like a spoon!", "They changed Paladin sword to hero sword, THAT'S GAY!", makes me feel like kicking both of their butts sometimes -_-

You got a point there... at least they didn't blur the edges of the energy swords in One Piece (not that One Piece has them, but still their swords are pointy)!

I have not seen much of MegaMan: NT Warrior other than fansubs of the original RockMan.exe which was REALLY good for a kids show, and warmed the cockles of my Mega Man heart.

The way they included Dr. Wil, Dr. Light, Mega Man, Roll, Rush, Guts Man, and all the other classic robot masters, along with some new ones (NumberMan) was absolutely genius!

The dub... ehhhhhh... not so much. The biggest beef I had with that was "TorchMan". First, there IS NO TORCHMAN in any MegaMan game! His name is, and always will be...

FIREMAN!

Okay, so maybe they changed the name so kids don't think that FireMan and Fireman are similar. However, I consider that a strong over-reaction to 9/11 if you ask me, since it wasn't too long after that when MM:NT came out on TV here.

I loved the "Gabcom" in-joke and thought that all the way up to, and the very end of the PharohMan story arc were quite good. What they did in the dub I have no idea, but I try not to think about it!

Now if only we can get all the Robot Masters some equal screen time!

But anyway, what other travesties happen in MegaMan that don't happen in the One Piece dub?

some scenes got cut off (like that Chaud(Enzan) and Lan(Netto) fight scene where Lan punched Chaud in the face)

Background music were changed

Crappy voice actors ( well, aside from Richard Cox who voices Burnerman.Exe but also voices Inuyasha. )

that's all i can think of for now. there were plenty of others, but i have to link that thread to this thread.
