WTF? You HAVE to admit it was big in Japan.. admit??? It's just pointless to point out that it was popular since it's pretty obvious, other wise it wouln't have made it all the way to DBGT.BasharOfTheAges wrote:I have to admit it was big in Japan as well
So after it wasn't so new, it wasn't popular anymore, right? WRONG!!! If that was the case, it wouldn't have gotten to GT, and have over 150 eps. Do your research before you start spewing out non sense.BasharOfTheAges wrote:The bold part is what's important genious.

From what I've heard from KatsumiAMVs, DBZ is still saw to be one of the greatest animes in Japan. Even still in America, DBZ is popular. As soon as DBZ came back in the light with DBZ Uncut, it blew Adult Swim away because DBZ Uncut got more hits than the shows they had airing on Saturday along with the weekly shows.

That was due to a technicality (slow anime growth. when it came to the western world their were much less anime fans than their are now. cartoons were for kidies. dbz had explosions.) and the fact that it was (obviosly) so cheap to produce that the producers could easily pump out 100+ eppisodes. I honestly believe that a single eppisode of witch hunter robin took more work on the art and animation than the whole series of dbz. Also, NGE shits over every other anime in dvd sales.Banana_Boat wrote:yea, and not to mention that dbz is the single most succesful anime to date, hate it, or love it.....no arguing about that though.

DBZ has widespread popularity in the same way that Halo has widespread popularity.
Sure, millions of jocks and fratboys stood in line to get Halo 2, but you won't see most of them playing Katamari Damacy, the Final Fantasy series, or any of the truely original or artistic videogames out there. Meanwhile, while millions of people love DBZ, very few of them expand past DBZ to beter shows.
Now, while Halo is certainly shiny and a very well-made multiplayer FPS game, it has few redeeming values beyond that. And while DBZ is... well... old... and... has explosions... and... takes 20 episodes to resolve a fight... I forget where I was going with that but you get the idea.
In conclusion, these are the same people that watch pro wrestling. Roll that around your frontal lobe a bit.

I despise wrestling.
End of Evangelion sucks ASS and you people like it, and NO ONE complains about it. Stop bitching to the people who like DBZ. Or is it that people don't like anime that's more popular than the one they find should be at the top of the list? Sounbds kinda like this Euphoria/Whisper of the Beast discussion that recently took place.

Wrestling died in 2001 when ECW went under...
OT: DBZ is one of those anime's that has it all, emotional explosions of power, great hero's, excellent action, and even more explosions..
Now to someone like me who loved dbz, after I got into other anime dbz started to die off because thats all it was... explosions and taunting for 50 episodes.. Ill give Naruto its just deserves, it uses 2 episodes to do it not 50.
