HeavyMetal, i agree with you about the alternate view, but nonetheless once you have seen it in color and in motion it's like watching a great movie then watching it again in black and white whithout sound, i personaly find it a turn off. INdeedi must sgree once more about the jokes however when you get attached and have been watching that perticular anime for long time and when you like it alot even the smallest jokes make you laught even if they are repetitive. Also the coyote getting smashe was fun when i was young plus i saw it every day but when you see it again after 10 years obviusly it's not funny annymore however this is not the case.
Evangelion Unit 01, i must say that i have never seen an anime more than once expt certain episodes because i had nothing elce to watch, i tend to grab everything the first time, for most anime anny ways, and the reason i do so i sbecause i don't have the spark that would make me watch it again, it's fun i love the characters, but when i knwo what will happn next i realy get bored i just anticipate the serie and i get anoyed it needs to be new, it needs to have suspence which i love most of all.
SOAD2k8, IN general i would agree with you, well wrapted up anime are great however if it ends in a clifhanger it good sometimes depending on the anime or if they leave something unexplained, something unfinished. It gives it a charm i find because you can immagine what could happen or what happend depending on the situation.

Yeah, cliffhangers are great.
I remember the days when I thought I got it all in one pass. Maybe details aren't your thing, so a second pass is not worth it. But if your not seeing something new your not looking or the anime is really really simple like Pokemon or something.
I'll be the first to admit when the movie is better than the book, but if you like the characters or story so much (like the topic says) the book is worth a look.
Take FLCL or the movie Fight Club. The video is way more polished, but the book has time for little details and insights.
FLCL, there is one people don't get entirely or sometimes at all in one pass.

I agree with Evangelion Unit 01 rewatch an anime sometimes reveals little things you missed the first time, be it a mistake or something that changes your view on the series. Apart from being a anime fan i'm also an Harry Potter fan and i have read the books a few times each (except number six only read it once) and each time i read them again i
1. Enjoy reading them again
2. Notice things i wouldn't of the first time
I reckon an important factor in this is closure, if a series or movie ends in a way that there is no need for anymore. I hope you understand what i mean. Nadesico Movie is the opposite of this those who have seen will know what i talk about but they left it wide open for more, but even though they left it open for more what would it be about, if they were to make more it would more than likely be something shit that come close to making you hate the first, because if your an anime collector like me you would like a complete collect of the anime but if they make a sequel that you don't like you're in a jam, because:
1. You hate the sequel but if you don't buy it you will never have the feeling that your collection is complete
2. on the other hand if you do buy the sequel even though you don't like it you have the complete collection but you've just paid out money for something you don't like
I don't know exactly what i'm trying to say si but it would probably be something like this:
A ending with a few lose end is ok because gives the viewer a chance to make up thier own stories to fix up those lose ends, but an ending that is left open gives the viewer sometimes false hope that there will be more on the way, but if more does come there is the possiblity that the viewer will not like and be greatly disappointed.
One more thing before i finish my post i find the only problem with rewatching a series is rewatching recap episodes

All right i woudl agree with you but keep in mind that abook is completly diffrent and can never even come close to a movie altho i am a big mutimedia fan i can tell you that one man's view on a story based on a book can not compare to what your mental picture of this book is and how you imagined it in your mind. As far as details comes well teh original is allways better and with alot more details, but keep in mind that in a book you red ever line ever word while in a movie you focus only on certain things while you might miss some details in the far backround. The reason why i don't like mangas is also because i have to read and i am not a big fan of boock altho i would read clasics. The book needs to be something exeptional to be able to captivate me from teh begining untill the end and if it fails it's only because it was not ment to be. To be honest with you all i have seen like anime has been everything but simple anime i don't tend to watch stupidities altho these days with all those serius anime i think i would need some comedy.HeavyMetal wrote:Yeah, cliffhangers are great.

I find anime or movies being like a summery of the original story .
ZealDarklord,
I don't understand how when you read a book you don't notice certain things i mean it's a book not anime, if you mean not noticing how thing relate to the plot then okay but anny way.
Since yoru a colector i would have to suggest you something. Insted of collecting everything collect what you like. My name is the hentaimaster what i used to do beafore is collect hentai from every site good or bad quality like it or not but then i realised that it was pointless having somthing you do not like so in the end i kept what i only liked and kept on taking things i like. I am hentai collector but my collection is a personal one because you can never have everything, anime wise or hentai wise for me, so i refrain my self to take what pleases me. Al this to tell you that if you did not like the Nadesico don't get it don't waist your money on something you will not enjoy watching, insted go by something you will like and enjoy.
You woudl be suprised to know thins but when i saw the ending of Shaman king i was extremely happy and if you have seen it you woudl understand, if you like Hao as mutch as i do. Plus it gives me hope that there will be something like a second season or something like that, but if teher isn't i have my wide immagination think of something to satisfy my hunger. You are right tho about being dissapointed, it happens and that because teh directors view in teh anime and plot may not be the same as yours nontheless it woudl bebetter to understand it in order to be less dissapointed.

1. Although when reading a book you are reading it word for word and line by line it is still possible to miss things, i would compare it to watching 'The Sixth Sense' when you watch it the first you don't see all those hints whats going on, but when you watch it the second time you say to yourself how did i miss that. For example in Harry Potter Chamber of Secert a girl appears and she is only there for a few lines so on my first read i just brushed her off as unimportant character, but on my second read i realised her appearence was a hint to so goings on in the story. (If anyone cares i'm taking about Percy's Girlfriend in book 2)The HentaiMaster wrote: ZealDarklord,

2. Although i know it's stupid to buy something you don't like my point was that in some cases a collector won't be satisfied until they have a complete collection and they may mean buying an unnecessary or unliked sequel
3. I don't know if you think i don't like Nadesico but if you do your wrong, i was only using it for an example
4. That hope you talk about, the hope that there will be more of that series you liked so much is most times a false hope, there most likely is going to be a sequel but you going hoping and listen to every possible rumor until you start believing in the rumors, how can i put this I am of the opion now that it is okay for an ending to be left open because it gives the possiblity of more and it gives the viewer a such to carry on the story in thier mind or as fan fiction, but in the end hope can come with disappoint so instead of hoping for more and getting disappoint it is better to move on
5. I don't know if your doing it on purpose or that you can't help it but you spelling sucks do us a favor and run it through word processor like Microsoft Word before posting

Serious anime normally gets the better stories. Philosophy never seems to be very funny for some reason.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahah being a book fan is good. The explain more in detail and are over all better but for osme reason i cannot make myself read one, altho it's far more cultivating that any movie. As far as serius anime goes their stories are just the best i found only one funny anime, actualy make it 2 that have a good story with a deeper meaning those are One pece and FLCL.
I just finished watching gungrave and that was a rather good anime when it comes to the story, very original.

FLCL is awesome. (The manga is stranger than the show. The show fits together better though.) Some of it is sad, but it is too crazy to feel bad for long.
One Piece sort of lost me. I was thinking alright pirates, curses, and rope rigging sword fights. Too happy sunshine for the setting to me.
If you like Neon Genesis Evangelion it may be worth your while to read the manga. It tends to fill in time gaps in the show, without changing the story. It shows things like what Shinji was thinking or dreaming. A bunch of scenes in the show aren't even present. Others are similar, but different due the difference in expressing by page rather than motion.
Sorry to push reading. I actually think just as highly of film. I just worry that everyone will sell out to shameless action movies devoid of anything other than explosions and gun fights. Not that those aren't nice in movies sometimes.
