do you mean extracting the audio from the amv?

use virtual dub, then 'save wav'

that should be the simplest way, unless it starts to get tricky...

then that's where I run

Hmm, I normally use Virtualdub followed by a MP3 converter to get audio for general listening [especially if the video has a long splash screen or intro]

However, I was wondering, VirtualDub, it seems, cannot open WMVs? How do I get the WAV of those?

I suggest, in scintilla's honor,

EO-Video

google that beast it will do it...

however if you want to do it the hard way, use graphedit

it's easier than you'd think...but I'm not good at describing...perhaps it is better you download Eo Video

Can you also reccommend a good free WAV-MP3 converter? I hit the limit of how many it will let me convert before trying to make me buy it.

Okay, I'm looking around EO Video program, as Googled and DLed version 1.36. Audio quality comes out a little poor it sounds like to me, though it might not have been that high a quality to begin with... experimenting.

If you set VirtualDub to direct stream copy the audio, then either "Save WAV" or "Demux", the result will be an MP3 stream (assuming the AVI had MP3 audio) that should play back fine without recompression. Therefore, no quality loss.

If you learn how to resurrect yourself, (I'm sure there's a guide for that somewhere...), try using CDex. Great program for ripping CD's and converting between WAV and MP3. http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/

Are you still trying to pull audio from a .WMV file?
