Are you bothered when you hear recycled voices in ADV anime?
Whenever I am watching an anime dubbed by ADV, I recognize the voices I hear. "Ooh. Hilary Haag did her voice. Hey, I think I hear Kira Vincent-Davis. That was Monica Rial just now. Ah, that one was Chris Patton." I don't think that there has been a single ADV title I've watched that didn't recycle previous voices. Most of these actors are typecast; the firey redhead always has Tiffany's voice, it's not uncommon to find Alison playing a sexy vixen, and Amanda, in the early titles at least, plays the soft-spoken ones. To play these roles they're practically born for, these actors don't need to deviate from their usual anime voice. So, I usually end up hearing the same voice from these people - over and over.
It tends to detract from the experience when I hear the same voices all of the time. The name of the actor instantly pops up from my head, and, right in that moment, I am severed from the anime-watching experience, because my mind is drawn to thoughts of that actor.
What do you think about hearin the same voices a lot in ADV titles? Does it annoy you to hear recycled voices over and over, or does it make you happy to recognizing your favorite actors? As for me...I like recognizing actors...but not in every anime I watch, and not all of the time.
(Oh, and please don't let this turn into a dub v. sub topic. ^^; )

Not that it really matters at all which company put out the DVD you are bound to hear some voices you have hear before. Personally I rather like it, I play little games with myself and buddies and we try and see if we can pick out what other voices they have done. Plus you can never go wrong when one of the mian characters is voiced by Crispen Freeman. There are some voices I just love, obviously Crispen Freeman (Alucard: Hellsing) is a favorite of mine but so are Kari Wahlgren (Fuu: Samuri Champloo), Steven Jay Blum (Spike: Cowboy Bebop), Beau Billingslea (Godwin: Last Exile) and many other whom I hear in different shows and films here and ther whose names I don't know. I think it is kinda like if you like an Actor's acting you will be more prone to go see a film staring that actor. Same this applies for me when I hear voice actors. I always try to pick out some one whose voice I can remember.
If you question applied to ADV and ADV alone, no I have no issue with ADV's voices.

I just get annoyed when voice actors don't seem to have the talent to change their voices a little from series to series. If several characters that a VA does all sound completely the same, I have a hard time believing that he/she is good at what he/she does.

Since here in Germany the majority of movies/series is dubbed, not only anime, you often have the case that you know the real actor and the roles s/he normaly plays, then the foreign actors s/he dubs and sometimes the anime characters s/he dubs. In some rare cases it's irritating, but mostly it's fun to me to figure it out. What annoys me is if during a series or between different seasons the VA of a chara changes. Or if they do a redub of something older, for example to get a version with higher quality audio, with different VA's.
To add, since if they dub they have to replace the whole audio track, the make sometimes an own soundtrack too.

However I can see your point some people I dont like to hear such as Hillary Hagg *shudders* annoying
