Well uh... nothing happened to DBZ. It's still on TV, even. I have no idea what you're talking about
If you liked DBZ though, there's a 96% chance you'll love Naruto. Check it out. Coming to Cartoon Network in September.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I suggest some better wording in your posts, but you do have a point that DBZ is winding down in popularity, and is set to be replaced by Naruto as far as popularity is concerned.
One martial arts show for another!
However, DBZ ended in Japan YEARS ago, and while it was hip here in the USA during the late 90's and early 2000's, the fact remains that all good things must come to an end.
DBZ is now on DVD, completely uncut, along with DBGT, and Dragon Ball! This is more than I could have ever imagined back when I first saw Dragon Ball in 1995. The merchandise, knock-offs (I once saw a fake action figure being sold in a toy store at the mall. It had Freeza in the package along with a... machine gun?!), and constant fan ravings have helped propel the DB series to immortal status.
The same, however, is not true for Akira Toriyama. If it was, people would be clamoring for everything Dragon Quest (Dragon Warrior) related, and be begging for Dr. Slump and his other works. Go check them out for a good read, especially Dr. Slump (THANK YOU Viz!)
Now Naruto has ninjas! Lots and lots of ninjas! Ninja training school! Mystic arts, lots of cool moves, and some bad ass fight scenes.
Best of all, they don't stand around (or float around) going GRAAAAAARGGH trying to charge up and stuff. Plus, the plot points and character development are a bit deeper than the DB series (which was originally a gag series to begin with)!
So yeah, DBZ is fading. New English translations are by graphic novel only and not through Shonen Jump, but that's okay by me! It allows other newer series to shine, and frankly, I think Naruto is a pretty good successor.
Plus, thanks to DBZ, I can now get One Piece and Shaman King fixes! SCORE!

No, they don't stand around going GRAAAARGGH for most of the episodes until you get to like season 5 or 6. Then it's like 15 episiodes for a fight, and most of the fight would still be recaps from the last episodes and flashbacks from the last season, etc. No joke.OtakuMan22 wrote:

I think the reason so many DBZ sites switched to Naruto is because DBZ freaks needed something else to watch and spend evry waking moment of there lives obsessing over every little detail. Note that I am talking about hardcore DBZ fans in the little rant, but I'll make it nice and simple:
Old n' Busted: DBZ
New Hotness: Naruto

dbz was one of the first animes i remember watching. It came on Sat mornings on Fox. That shit was hot I'm not gonna lie. The first 2 seasons and the first 3 movies were great.
However, after season 2 the voice acting got horrible, and i knew the whole story already. i lost my intrest.
Season 1-Bandai
Season 2-Pioneer
Narutos fun to watch all the time, it does annoy me on the fact that there making it longer than they should however, if u ever pick up the manga and read naruto, the diologe is the same, the exact same. DBZ was like that also, but more char depth is in Naruto fo sho, and it puts dbz to shame in a way

Though Bandai and Pioneer made the DVDs, the dubbing was done by entirely different companies. The first two seasons were recorded by the Ocean Group (Ranma 1/2,Gundam Wing) and FUNimation (Fullmetal Alchemist,Fruits Basket) picked it up after that.ssj4lonewolf wrote:However, after season 2 the voice acting got horrible, and i knew the whole story already. i lost my intrest.
