Does anyone else hate most dubbed animes?

Does anyone else hate most dubbed animes? Because I do. Dubbed versions are always leaving something out in the translated version! :x

If it's done correctly, meaning they don't change dialogue to where it doesn't even hold a similar meaning, and nothing is edited, then I prefer watching it dubbed. That however, is something I've seen maybe twice, and the rest of the time the companies just feel the need to change stuff needlessly. How annoying.

I hate it when they add lame american cultural references into the dub dialogues. Sometimes they're not lame, but the majority of the ones I've heard have been pretty dumb.

I agree with devilmaykickass if there is no misiterperetations, bastarizations of meaning, and importantly there is acurate synchronisation (nothing tends to annoy me more than people talking and thier mouths aren't moving) I will be watching teh dub as opposed to the sub. But most often when I see a series for teh first time I watch the sub to see the emotions the that the creators were really trying to convey.

Most of the time I like subbed better, but that doesn't necessarily mean I hate the dub.

Personally, I enjoyed the mentions of Hustler, 7-11, and Anna Nicole in the dub of FLCL episode 2. It just fit without seeming forced, you know?

But I admit I had no idea what all the musical acts Haruko named in episode 5 were because they just went by too fast.

And now that I think about it, those are about the only American cultural references I've ever heard in a dub anyway...

I hate it when an argument has bein beaten to death and then someone decides they need to re-open it for some stupid reason.

Some of the modern nods (note: not all of them) they put into Lupin III worked pretty nicely.

It's all a matter of 'Can you blend it in seamlessly enough' The problem with a lot of these nods is that they stick out like a sore thumb, so they ruin a lot of it...but there's some (like FLCL and the above-mentioned sometimes cases in Lupin) where it slides in well enough that the knowledge it's a contemporary nod is almost an afterthought.

In short...US nods are OK in moderation.

Yes, that's annoying. I remember in the Sailor Moon dubs they felt the need to go as far as visual editing to make stuff more American-ish, such as flipping any and all scenes with cars in them horizontally so that the drivers side would be on the corresponding side that it is on American cars...but yet the setting was still in Japan in the dialogue. o__O

I just hate when dubs change the names of the characters(4kids entertainment crap). For instance, in Tokyo Mew Mew, how do you start out with Ichigo Momomiya for the main character and then get Zoey Hanson? Where do they come up with this stuff? :?
