Dressing in black and listening to Avril is more of a emo classification.

And 13 is a pretty young age to classify yourself as "goth" (especially when listening to avril and other avril-like music) But then again some people dont even know what a goth really is; and it has nothing to do with heavy music, black clothes, *witchcraft/ sacrifices, or being anti social. Thats why I hate it when people call me goth, they have no idea what theyre talking about.... (*me: discluding the witchcraft thing...im not into that ftr)

One thing that I can say for Avril is that she is a decent (label made) role model for girls cuz shes not a whore (visibly.. none of us know what she could be doin on the side) And shes not overly "punky" or "goth" (cuz we all know parents dont know the difference, theyre all freaks to them).. shes basically a parentally accepted "rebel" that doesnt swear a lot in her music and has easy on the ears tunes for the parents

The Goths were an East Germanic tribe which according to their own traditions originated in Scandinavia (specifically Gotland and Götaland). They migrated southwards and conquered parts of the Roman empire. Two closely related tribes, the Gutar and the Götar, who remained in Scandinavia and are often called Goths, are separately treated, as Gotlanders and Geats respectively. The goths that moved to the continent were responsable for one of the earliest germanic incurtions against the Roman enpire in 267. There are were 2 main branches of goths who moved to the continent, the Orstrogoths who died out some time around 562 AD, and The Visigoths, who dissapeared with the invation of the Iberian Peninsula by the Umayyad Muslims, in 718 AD. Those who were not converted to Islam either assimilated into the Franks (and would later play pivitol roles in the Kingdom of Charemange a few generations later) or went off with the founding of the Kingdom of the Austrias that same year.

With that having been said, there are no more goths today. NONE! Nobody is a goth if you know any one who calls or conciders themself a goth, slap them until they are dead. Any one with tendanceies that are concidered "gothic"(and I use the term losely) by today's standards, and calls themself a goth, insults a very prominant part of European history.

I only call myself goth cuz that is what they told me what i was was but im more like an emo or whatever or depressed whatever im emo... And i wish i was a kitty. -meaow- So i guess thats what a goth really is? So i wont say it no more i guess i just call mself emo than right? -meaw- anyywhooooo so ya. ~Shea

There's plenty of stuff my family listens to, and the only way I can deal with it is to tolerate it or bring my iPod along. They hate my music, but they tolerate it (I'm allowed to blast it when everyone is awake until the first person goes to bed).
