Avril is the french word for April. Avril Lavigne is from Canada, she is French that is where her name is from... And her last name is Jewish. That is what kind of name it is. She kept her REAL name. Okay it aint a lame stage name. Back off. Anyway i like Evanecence better than Avril nawadays... but that dont mean i dont still love Avril's music. Anyway im babysitting still. Its 11:30 and my sister is already sleeping -_- gah but it will be a while before they are home. Im only 13 and i have to take care of my sister so much... And i have to cook... And everything... I wish i was away from this place... a lot.. i wish i could just dissapear... But i cant. ~Shea

While I am not ashamed to admit that I do like a very large majority of the songs that Avril Lavigne sings, I will agree that this post is a little pointless, but really how is is any more pointless than posts that say "I really like (insert musician/band that the fanboys around here actually like)"? It's really no different.
A point I've noticed reading through all of the replies is the fact that so many people are against her music simply because they're against her. I think it's dumb and immature to be against someone's product simply because you hate them (not to confuse the point that there's nothing wrong wtih disliking her music if you genuinely dislike the songs themselves, because everyone has different tastes).
It's like the case with the band Tatu, a lot of people proposed the question of how you could like something so fabricated? Well just because the artists themselves have no real depth or meaning to them, it doesn't mean that the songs don't. All the Things She Said spoke volumes to many gays and lesbians out there even though the artists aren't really gay. Likewise, Avril's songs words can reach and touch people even if she didn't come up with them herself.
The idea that one has to actually like a celebrity to appreciate the product baffles me. Do you refuse service from a waitress because she's of a different political party than you? No, so why do artists matter so damn much? Take them for what they are, they are people working to provide you with a service, either hate or appreciate the product for what it is, not the producer.
Also, as for the disorders, scapegoats for stupid behavior will get you no where here honey because I think that the majority of the members here are mentally fucked in one form or another, you get no sympathy, simply join the club.
