This is just a thought, I don't want this thread to turn into a war but if it does, someone lock it please.

Now adays, it seems that alot of anime fans are atheist. Is that for real?

Nope. I'm Christian. Baptist actually. I haven't seen any big thing about religious tendencies of otaku though, unless of course you're someone who's offended by Evangelion (or something like that), I see no reason why anime geeks would usually be athiest.

Well, It's not true for me. I'm Christian, although I'm fairly liberal, so most stuff doesn't offend me. Plus, seeing how Japan is SOOO ethnocentric and most Japanese know very little about Christianity, you can't really hold it against them.

Me too, but I don't really find too much of a difference among anime fans regarding religion as I do the general population (and I studied religion for a major :-P).

Well, I am not christian I am Jewish, but personally I feel that people watch anime for enjoyment not really religious or anti-religious perposes. Although I will say I see more christianity in anime than buddism, which I beleive most of Japan is. Not to offend anyone, but I heard from a friend of mine that the Japanese don't like the chistian religion due to the whole burn in hell thing. Just what I heard. Anyway, I am pretty sure though that most people who watch anime are of many differnent religions, but since most of the world is christian than proabably more christans watch anime than anyother religion. I also think that most people who watch anime are not orthadox, it would just seem like so much would offend them. What would a nun think of the last two episodes of Berserk, or just the series in general? I am not orthadox in my religious beleifs, and I also feel that most people tha watch anime are not either. It is just my feeling so for, correct me if I am wrong.

wow.. there are a lot of christians...

Im not atheist.. I prefer to keep my mind open, I believe they call that agnostic: believing in some divine force, not necessarily god. Thats me. I've never been to church before, I didnt grow up in a religous household so.. Im religionless

I'm also Christian!
Okay...I was baptized in a Catholic church but now I'm Christian, in fact I went to a Christian school for three years and on my opinion I think there's no difference between Catholics and Christians, I mean they do worship the same God right?

Anyways, about you thinking that most anime fans are 'atheist'. I agree with you on thinking that.....
but I think that it's because most(most likely all)animes doesn't have religion stuff.
