Is this true about most anime fans?

So technically an agnostic is someone without knowledge of religion, i.e. pretty much anyone who doesn't expressly follow any religion, but also doesn't go to the opposite end and conclude that religious truths aren't valid. An agnostic just doesn't have any strong beliefs one way or the other.

So, technically, Otohiko is not agnostic, because he says he has his own system of beliefs. They just don't happen to coincide with any "official" religion.
I've got my own sets of beliefs and I'm spiritual, so I guess I'm not agnostic.. Hmmm, so if I'm not really religious, and not really atheist, I would think I'm agnostic since that seems sorta inbetween, but I guess not.. -_-

Okay...I was baptized in a Catholic church but now I'm Christian, in fact I went to a Christian school for three years and on my opinion I think there's no difference between Catholics and Christians, I mean they do worship the same God right?
If you want to get tecnical Jewish, Muslim, and Christains all worship the same god. The bigest differance is in witch prophet's teachings they follow.
Now I may have this wrong but( and someone correct me if I am), Jewish and Muslims recognize Jesus as a prophit but not the son of god. Also the Torra is the old testament, and all three holy books tell a similar story and profess the same teachings.

Now to get back on subject.

One reason that Anime does not seen to be aimed at any particular religion is this simple fact. The Shinto beleif structure does not exclude other religions. If you are Shinto you can still be Budist, Christain, Muslim or any other religion. Those that follow shinto are more open minded and accepting of other peoples beliefs.

Meh, you can still use the term if you want. In general usage, most people seem to use it for those who are in-between organized religion and atheism and uncertain or unconcerned regarding spiritual matters; I was just going off on a tangent about the history of the word. Far be it from me to stop you. ^-^

Also, I was just noting that since Otohiko's beliefs seem very established for him, it didn't really seem like agnosticism to me...

I'm Christian as well. I'd venture to guess that the atheism thing is more of an overall trend in teens if anything, not really one exclusive to the anime community. But I still doubt they're in the majority.

But realy, what the hell is the conection between being an anime fan and ones religios beliefs? Till someone can give me a proper explanation this thread seems pointless.

It looks to me like anime fans aren't atheist, they're just more open-minded, or not as religious. For the most part, anyway, obviously not all of them are the same. I would think that anime, as it covers such a broad (and sometimes perverted) range of subjects, would be a bit repulsive to uber-religious people. The very dedicated.

After all, haven't there been petitions by people who claim anime should be banned because it's blasphemous, or turning our children to evil or some such?

And just for fun, I would like to say i'm pagan. My mother is jewish and my father is catholic, so I wasn't brought up in a religious house. I found my own religion through the magic of the internet and the library. Ocasionally I go to catholic church because ours has their own rock band and they play good music. Plus they meet at night:)
-Are children who act in rated 'R' movies allowed to see them?
-Do they have girl’s bathrooms in gay bars?
