Six Ways to Stephen Blum

Post by EmilLang1000 » Fri Aug 26, 2005 9:40 pm

Okay, we all know (or SHOULD know) who Stephen Blum is... he's quite easily THE most wanted voice actor for anime in America right now, and can be found in more Voice-Acting positions than the Kama-Sutra (bad pun, feel free to flame).

So, this is a little game called "Six Ways to Stephen Blum." It works exactly like Six Ways to Kevin Bacon, but with Anime :D .

For those of you unfamiliar with Six Ways, it works like such:
One person says a name of an anime/cartoon director, producer, voice actor, etc. - say, Gary Chalk. Someone else then finds a way to relate that person to Stephen Blum in six ways or less:

"Gary Chalk played Man-At-Arms in Masters of the Universe with Cam Clarke as Prince Adam, who played Jack Archer in Robotech: Battlecry with Tony Oliver as Rick Hunter, who also played Rick in Robotech with George C. Cole as Zor Prime, who played Vicious in Cowboy Bebop which starred Stephen Jay Blum as Spike Speigel."

Basic Q&A Forum rules apply:
The Rules:

Keaton's Basic Ground Rule:
You must answer the current question correctly in order to ask a question. (5/17/03)

Keaton's Traffic Streamlining Rule:
If you are 100% certain that your answer is correct, you can ask a question right away instead of waiting for confirmation. (5/19/03)

Keaton's Necropost-Immunity Traffic-Uppage Rule:
After at least two days of no new questions or answers, anyone can restart the thread by asking a new question. There is no such thing, then, as necroposting on the trivia thread. (5/21/03)

dwchang's Implementation of the Rule of Alternates [one way of handling alternate questions]:
A particularly tough question is taken back in favor of an easier one once ten wrong answers have been received. (5/27/03)

Rule of skanks' Suffering:
When people break Keaton's Basic Ground Rule and attract traffic rather than follow-the-rules posts, the thread will tend to determine the line of succession by who answers what questions, rather than by rule as delineated earlier. (~5/29/03)

skanks' Rule of Resignation:
If for some reasons someone doesn't want to ask a question, they can pass it off to whoever they want to. (6/9/03)

Kai's "THIS JOB IS TOO HARD!" Rule:
Questions that are not answered correctly within 24 hours of their posting are replaced by the poster who asked them. (7/10/03, codifying a tradition begun by EarthCurrent the week before)

EarthCurrent's Rule of Inevitability:
Nobody can ever REALLY stay retired from the trivia thread. (7/14-15/03)

youkokitsune106's Rule of Teh Google:
Prior knowledge should be used to answer questions in the trivia thread; the internet is a last resort. (7/18/03)

EarthCurrent's Anti-YYH-Ping-Pong Rule [simplified]:
You cannot ask a question about the anime that the question you answered was about, or about the same anime that you asked your last question about, if you've asked a question before. (7/27/03)

Please repost these rules and any additions that develop every ~50-60 pages, and update the stats if you feel like it.
So, to get things rolling, here's the first one:

In six ways or less, relate this person to Stephen Jay Blum: Akira Toriyama.

It's stiil older_gohan's turn, but I thought I'd take a shot at this.

1. Akira Toriyama created DBZ
2. DBZ was first released by Pioneer then by FUNimation.
3. Same thing with Lupin III.
4. The voice actor behind Lupin III himself (on Pioneer's release) did the voice for Harry MacDowell on Gungrave.
5. On Gungrave, one of Harry MacDowell's business partners is Balladbird Lee.
6. The voice actor behind Balladbird Lee is Stephen Jay Blum.

Tooeasy
1: Morgan Freemen is a regular on G4 T.V.
2: Gene Shaft [has] air[ed]s on Anime Unleashed on G4 T.V
3: Stephen Blum did a guest voice in 1 episode of Gene Shaft

I have created over a thousand blades

Nor known to Life
Have withstood pain to create many weapons

I'll go one step further
Morgan Freeman gave a slightly off-color review of EverQuestII

Steven Blum did voices in EQ 2, including - Generic Male Nightblood, Generic Male Orc, Valik, Initiate Lanaru, Chieftan Kraughl, Bartender Bulurg, Brant Omannus, Reinkor McCollin, Corporal Peckett, Tobias Vreldig, Inquisitor Irizan, Saydith Yarr, Juma, A Jailed Skeleton, Grugok

Now then, since I kinda took the easy way, I'll go with my turn.
Johnny Yong Bosch

I have created over a thousand blades
Unknown to Death

Yet, those hands will never hold anything

Incredibly easy, so I'll try and do it indirectly (easiest is Bosch and Blum both voice characters on Wolf's Rain)

Bosch voiced Vash the Stampede in Trigun with Lia Sargent (Millie), who also voiced Miyabi in Ai Yori Aoshi with Michelle Ruff (Aoi), who voiced Fujiko on Pioneer's Lupin with Lex Lang (Goemon), who's worked with Kirk Thornton on several occasions. Thornton voices Jin in Samurai Champloo, where Wendee Lee made an appearance in episode 2. Lee and Blum have co-starred on at least 20 different animes.

Let's see.......................

Veronica Taylor along side Raechel Lillis do some of the voice acting on
Pokemon. Raechel did one of the voices on Boogiepop Phantom. Boogiepop Phantom was on G4TV. So was Gungrave. Balladbird Lee, one of the character on Gungrave is played by Stephen Jay Blum.

New Name: Let's try Arumi from Abenobashi.

Arumi from Abonabashi was played by Jessica Boone

Jessica played Operator, Additional Voices in RahXephon
Chris Patton played Ayato Kamina in RahXephon
Chris Patton played Crisis in Lupin III Dead or Alive
Christopher Saibat played Daisuke Jigen in Lupin III
Christopher Saibat played Kazuma Kuwabara in Yu Yu Hakusho
and Steven Blum played a Thug in
Yû yû hakusho: Meikai shitô hen - Honô no kizuna

Close enough I think...

Try David Brimmer - Zodd from Berserk
