What makes you like/love your favorite anime(s) so much?
Is it because of the:

Story
Parody
Comedy
Violence
Romance
Hotness of the characters
or other

Other.

I dream of one day seeing an anime without a storyline, that does not mimic or parody anything, remains entirely un-funny throughout, denies any violence, dispenses with sentiment and consists of an utterly and criminally ugly cast.

That would be pure art, from my perspective.

Seriously
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I want to see that too now.

And what makes somethjing generally good...

Story and Other (as in good characters.) Put anything you want on those and the series is good, no matter how ugly the characters are. The occasional awesome wtf moment usually doesn't hurt. (To me, weird/WTF moments make anything better, and Otohiko's idea sounds like one big WTF moment, albiet without humor, violence, or parodies)

The funny thing is that it would look suspiciously like my own life on most days

Well, to be serious on anime that actually exist, character development is a big one for me, as is solid plot development - both of which should preferably either avoid cliches or intentionally play with cliches in ways that are neat and inventive.

Oh, comedy is good, when I'm in need of comedy. And there's been many an anime title that had me laughing to tears :)
