Robotech vs Gundam

Ok here's what I want to do and I'll need some help on this. I want to create a sort of outline to where the robotech and gundam (not any of the extra storys but the first gundam) cross together. This does include only the first robotech series. And out of this who would win in a fight? Of course you have great pilots such as Amuro Ray and Char. But as well in robotech you have ace pilots like Roy Follker and Max Sterling. Either way I need help creating what weapons, forces they would have to compensate and use against each other and then pit them against each other and see who would come out on top. Well, you can find RPG stats of Gundam on the internet, and the ROBOTECH RPG by Palladium can cover any other questions concerning the mechs.

As for how they'd cross together? You can do something like this:
whereas Zentraedi are entirely human genetically, thus no genetic anomallies are known - save for those already said in the story about Dana Sterling, the result of Terrans mating with Robotech Masters (specifically Minmei and the last Zor clone - read the books) results in a new race of humanity being born, gifted with with enhanced awareness and psychic powers - the Newtypes.

Why exactly by the time of Gundam they'd have completely thrown away Refelx technology is beyond me, but you can figure that out.

Well coudl you take one side and figure out what the count of their forces would be. I'm not going to make anything that actually didn't happen in the manga or anime itself. I want to display what would happen if the two forces would happen to meet and fight each other.

Wow that was both sad and disturbing at the same time. Sad because it was a dumb post and disturbing cause it didn't even talk about what we were. Did you bother to read? Did you even care or were you to worried someone would bash your precious obsession with heero?

Would you want to use the Americanized Robotech "Macross saga" or would you use the original Super Dimension Fortress Macross? There are some differences in regards to the technology of Robotech and SDF Macross.
I'd put my money on the Macross with the main canon wiping out loads of mobile suits. Mobile suits stand an even less chance vs. Valkyries on Earth. Valkyries would be too damn fast for the mobile suits to keep up with. Mobile suits may fare better in space.

All respect for the Macross, but it's not like the idea of giant cannons are new business for Gundam...

Even if we just stick to the UC, there's the Solar System, the Colony Laser, the Gryps II Colony Laser, and the Zanscare Empire's Keuilas Guile.

With that in mind, it's not too hard to say they couldn't match that at least and prob. take down a good deal of Valks in turn (or, failing that, roast the better part of the Macross, given it's pinpoint barrier can only protect just so much...)

...then again, I'll be honest. In my eyes, this is really a pretty apples and oranges debate.

I mean, we're looking at Macross, where several of the technology elements were contributed by alien races, which alone makes comparison awkward...but then if you tie in Newtype weaponry on the Gundam side such as funnels...
...well...there's really just too many 'What if' variables to take into account here.

Heero were talking only the first series. Really funnels were introduced til Char's counter attack.

The cannon's would be pretty much the same power. As for the speed difference between the GM and the Valkyrie your not comparing apples and oranges.

Even though the speed of a Valkryie in jet mode may be faster the GM itself has a notably faster speed when facing the VF when it's in battloid mode. So really your taking the good for the bad. The VF would have to learn byt a few fights how to fight differently. AS well with Newtypes those were even that popular or well known till you even farther into the gundam story or even the side story. In the first series of course Amuro was the newtype. However if we delved into 0080 and farther to possibly Char's counter attack you would have more newtypes but onyl a few would be noticible enough to make a real big impact. Though even with newtype senses it doesn't guarantee the person wont get killed.

As for technology the GM has more practical hand weapons were as the VF has more practical and destructive weapons in jet mode.

The only really 'what if' question that you could throw is the idea that protoculture would actually play a part. If that was case, or maybe alien races, then Gundam wouldn't stand a chance. Even though a GM would beat a Battle pod hands down your still looking at the fact the robotech masters, Zendreati, and invid have sheer numbers. They of course aren't going to lie down while some other race try's to take over what they are fighting.

However for teh sake of argument we'll leave the alien races out of this. So were only says the SDF forces and the Earth Federation and Principality of Zeon Forces. I believ it would be a fair toss up if you take into consideration each little thing the one force has over the other. So I'll look into it more and compare and then I"ll get back to you guys with a little more stats on the comparison of ships. Don't forget that teh SDF did have it's own ships, I think they totalled around 100 before the zendreati laid waste to the whole planet in it's bombardment.

We aren't going past what we'll call the 'One Year War' of both races. Each had their first war that lasted a while and we'll keep with the technology within that.
