Would anyone consider Avatar the Last Airbender a anime?

I mean the general feel and make of the show screams anime yet it was not made in japan. I personanly think it should be considered one. It's a great show with cool animation.

I must say that I do agree. If it looks like it was trying to be originated off the Japanese art, then why not. Who cares if it's American? I'm American, and I'm doing my best to make my drawings look like the Japanese anime art. It's still considered anime for thats where I am originating it from.

No it's not anime. Not to say that it's not good (because I like the show a lot) but it is not anime. Anime is just the Japanese word for animation, it has nothing to do with the style. Not all Japanese cartoons look like your typical anime even though most tend to. Do their cartoons that are not drawn in the typical "anime style" suddenly become American because of it? No, likewise American animation done with a Japanese influence doesn't magically become Japanese.

I agree. Although it has been inspired by anime, it still isn't Japanese, thus making it NOT anime. Same goes for Teen Titans. If it's not from Japan, it's not anime. No exeptions.

I guess Max Payne isn't much of a yaoi fan...

Avatar is about as much of an anime as Invader Zim, which is in anime sections for some reason (k, now back on topic). As many other people have said, if its not made in Japan, its not anime. Besides, isn't Anime just short for Japanimation?

Japanimation is an American made word. Anime is the Japanese word for animation, nothing more.

That's because Anime Works licensed the DVDs.

Back on topic, like everyone else said, Avatar is not an anime.
