Basically, a guy finds a robot girl in the trash and falls in love with her. A bunch of other stuff happens, but I can't say what for lack of having seen the anime.

The manga gets rather deep into the philosophical questions and is really a good read, but I've heard that the anime is much fluffier and bigger on the fanservice. Haven't seen it though.

I have and it's really cute... Lots of persocoms exist, robot type things. A lot of them look just like regular people, and everyone's got one. Chii is the main one and she's more advanced than the other ones and she's a Chobits thingy.

Really decent series to check out. If you've seen any of the other works by CLAMP and enjoyed those, that should give you a good indication of whether or not you'll enjoy Chobits.

Not necessarily. I loved X but I can't stand Chobits. They're pretty different story-wise of course, one being apocalyptic crisis and the other... Persacoms. Of course, most people seem to either love everything CLAMP does or hate them; I think I'm one of the few that I know who only likes selected works of theirs, generally the "darker" ones.

Good point. I haven't read too many of their darker titles (read too much manga already), but I always wanted to give X a try.

It's pretty good. It's one of those shoujo's you "just have to see" ya know. I haven't watched the last 3 episodes because I like to stall and be an idiot, but everything before that was great
