[quote="GloryQuestor"]Normally, having one show with similarly designed characters isn't that odd (Kagome, Rin, and Sango are all similar in look, while Kikyo for some odd reason isn't as much like them).[quote]

If you read the comics, escpecially the first, Kagome and Kikyo are near identical twins - Kikyo just looks slightly older than she. Takahashi has an habit of designing her good-guys one way (a simplified, pseudo-cartoony look), and her villains another way (thinner eyes, more realistically and detailed - compare Sesshomaru in the comics to Inu-Yasha... MAJOR difference in character designs). My only guess as to why they look different is that a) Kikyo is older than Kagome at least, or b) Because Kikyo's a villain, and in Takahashi's artstyle, that means a different template for character designs.

[quote="pink_hedgehog"]Ok so Im not up on my anime translation etiquette so I have a question: In ep 103, Jakotsu (band of seven) who is clearly animated and voiced as a woman is constantly hitting on Inuyasha and then on Koga stating that he isnt as good looking as Inuyasha. But they keep calling him he... is that because when it was translated for english tv they didnt want a gay reference (for kids) so they made him into a woman and hope no one noticed they said he or did they voice it wrong? :? [quote]

Even in the Japanese version, Jakotsu has a female's voice. Adult Swim has no problem with gay characters (just look at some of the people who've shown up on Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo); the dubbers were staying with the character's intent - a man so effeminate that he actually has a WOMAN's voice. Bankotsu has a teenager's voice not because he's young, but because he's immature, and Jakotsu's got a woman's voice because he's more flaming than Nemosperry! (I meant that as "flaming = bashing other people," although many would argue that the other possibility holds just as much truth.)
You know what they say: "when life gives you a T-Rex, go ninja-kick it in the head." - Rayne Summers, Least I Could Do
Proud to be a Jenova's Witness - WWSD (What Would Sephiroth Do?)

My, thats a damn good point. I havent seen many episodes in Japanese, I find that most of the voices are higher than the english characters, except Sango I think (I think), she has a rather low voice. And I dont get adult swim or I'd never leave my house, I get YTV and its mostly a kiddy station so I wasnt sure about it. They have an adult content warning because Inuyasha sometimes says you bastard or dammit.

I read the mangas too and the difference in eyes in demons vs good guys is more subtle and demons have a more defined law line, whereas good guys have a softer shape to their face. Kikyo starts out looking exactly like kagome, then when Urasue revives her she expresses her hatred towards Inuyasha (and yells die Inuyasha...) her eyes narrow out and her face has more dimension to it.

Sesshomaru

Post by hussein » Sat Sep 24, 2005 11:22 am

why doesn't sesshomaru kill inuyasha, he had so many chances, like the one time when inuyasha was full demon. Inuyasha was full demon and sesshomaru wanted to see how strong inuyasha was, sesshomaru beat up inuyasha into the ground and inuyasha was unable to move, however, Sesshomaru did not kill him when he had the chance. Also another thing in the movie #3. Sesshomaru did not take his arm back when he had the chance, why.

Because Sessoumaru is coolness personified. He wouldn't take his arm back for the same reason he wouldn't buy a used car... er rickshaw. He needs all original brand new parts baby. Not some pizza delivery cart. Plus he can kick ass with one arm bahind his back. Miles behind.

As to why he doesn't kill Inuyasha? I'd guess that it's because
1) Inuyasha is a main chracter, and main chracters in Inuyasha just don't die. Not gonna happen.
2) Maybe using the internal 'logic' of the show, he either wants a "real" battle with Inuyasha (remembering that they are decended from Uber powerful demons) and Inuyasha isn't giving it to him, or because he really secretly wants Inuyasha to grow up and join his evil ways.

Bringing up plot holes in Inuyasha is a slippery slope...

Almost right. But now that you've spoiled it I'll fill in the rest.

It's true, Inuyasha dies.
He goes to the future with Kagome and proposes to her in the fifth movie.

Unfortunately Naraku puts another (the last) shard in her brother and she tries to save him only to get captured, as usual. This time Inuyasha saves her, but has to do it in human form and gets poisoned. He dies in her arms during the night before the next day.

Kagome becomes angry from this and kills Naraku using her bow in the future, in a spectacular feat of animation. It's worth it just to watch that.

Inuyasha is buried at the shrine next to a stone that has Miroku and Sango's name on it.

With the show essentially over, the credits run, and we see her meet a boy that looks just like Inuyasha at her school at the end of the credits.

Or not.

For some reason the database uses Inu yasha (two words). A quick search shows over 6,000 videos. :) Check the recomendations section, I'm sure you'll find a few that are pretty good.

My post was entirely made up out of frustration born of a show that goes 167 episodes and four movies without resolving main plot points.

YOU BASTARD!! you scared me!! Well now that that was settled, that would have been a cool ending... but kagome was never strong enough to kill naraku let alone protect herself from anything, why would she be able to kill him? And I dont want a "her love for Inuyasha made her stronger than naraku" kinda answer.

I know there is a 4th movie out in japan somewhere, not here, crimson island or something... I havent even seen the 3rd yet... I hope there will be a 5th, or are they done with the whole series/ movies the whole shabang?

(as for IY amvs... tons man... tons)
