Make a DVD-Video without destroy the original size..

Post by [Mike of the Desert] » Sat Sep 24, 2005 9:04 am

I have right now a file with a dimension of 608x336. So it's not 4:3. I want to make a DVD-Video that a Playstation2 or a general DVD reader could, obviously, read. What can I do?

All the programs I tried made a 4:3 picture, so stretching the picture, how can I create something that have black bars on the top/bottom instead of the stretched video?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot. :)

I have a program called "Nero Startsmart" and I use it to burn AMV's for my DVD player. Some AMV's that are stupid and have smaller size thingys end up smaller sized on the TV. I think Nero doesn't change anything. Should try it.

The problem is that my video when transported into the Dvd is stretched to the high creating a really weird effect, my question was if there is any way to avoid this creating black bars to fill the necessary frame size to be 4:3. :?

You can either do it with the VirtualDub resize filter or with the AviSynth AddBorders(...) command.

Oh! You want to fill the black stuff? I've never known of a program that could stretch it. I'd try virtual dub and make it into original size before putting it on DVD.

The resize filter, I tried it with bad results, I'll try again since your tip is directly to that fitler. :) About avisynth, I don't know how to use that scrypt. ;\

Thanks a lot for the support!

Keitaro, I don't want to FILL the black borders, I WANT them!!

336/608 = 0.55263 etc

(336/608)*640 = approx 354

So:

- Resize your video to 640x352
- Add 64 pixels worth of borders each to the top and bottom, to make the video 640x480
- Resize THIS to 720x480
- Encode MPEG-2 for DVD with 4:3 aspect ratio flag.

Then it should play back correctly.
