Here's a weird problem I have

First, I have a relatively slow comp with a small HD (1.4Ghz Athlon, 50GB) and so I edit with PICVideo MJPEG exports and then switch to the DVD .VOBs when I'm ready for my AMV export. For some reason when I do a PICVideo MJPEG export of the 2nd 12 Kingdoms DVD it comes out fine, but UPSIDE DOWN! I've redone the the .d2v file and the .avs a few times, but with no change in results. The 1st DVD came out fine. Weird, huh? I have lost access to the DVDs since I'm at college now. Should I just tell my AVS script to flip it upside down and hope that it comes out right or is there a better way?

Why are you exporting it with PICVideo MJPEG? And what program are you using to export the video?

It's better to use Huffy [Lossless codec] to export your footage.

Also it might help to post the script your using for the twelve kingdoms footage.

Because he's using the swap method, editing with the low-quality MJPEGs and then switching back to the VOBs for final export.

I've never used this method myself (never used MJPEG for anything but rendering previews), so my only suggestion is to yeah, flip the affected episodes with AVISynth.

I use Picvideo, it's pretty fast, clean and stable. I've also never had this problem, so....

1) what program are you using to export your video with? So far as I know, Picvideo Mjpeg doesn't have a function that flips footage.

2) What program are you using to watch the exported footage?

3) It seems unlikely, but can you post your avs script just in case it's in there?

Does it do the same thing when you export using a different codec?

I'm using VirtualDubMod on "Fast Recompress" mode and the .AVS script only contains the command for where the source is at:

MPEG2Source("C:/12 Kingdoms/2nd DVD/2ndDVD.d2v")

I think the problem may be due to a DVD file rip instead of a chapter rip. I've tried previewing in VirtualDubMod, Premiere, and even Allplayer. If no one has any ideas then I'll just try flipping it in the AVS script.

Flipping is too easy. Does the AVS file look flipped when you preview it in VDub or just the MJPEG? I had a Premiere project that rendered it's preview files (in PicVideo MJPEG) backwards when they came from one of my .avs files once, it was very weird. A quick FlipHorizontal() fixed it.

I used FlipVertical() and everything seems to be working fine (I just think that computers secretly hate us and are quite vengeful of that fact).
