More music!

Post by Yoshiyuki Inokuma » Thu Oct 06, 2005 7:34 pm

Alright, I'm broadining my tastes from music. Last year I was completely american, and would listen to nothing else... but this year I started gaining a taste for some Japanese music... so I've come up with some specific music categories that I would like to try out.

Spanish traditional- Only requirement is it must be TRADITIONAL and RELAXING, if its slow beat music with old fashion guitars and other spanish instruments then I would like to find some songs of those.

Japanese Rap: I never really got a taste for rap. But as long as the song isn't rappin about hoes and money... then I'll listen to it.

Japanese Pop/rock/w/e: Alright... I thought high pitched annoying japanese women singing would annoy me... but they don't... funny huh? but in reality I would like some bands like Asian Kung-fu Generation and the Pillows.

German Hard Rock: Alright, if its hard core rock and it's german... I want to hear it. It just seems 'right' to me. (Is megaherz's the fifth of march from Whisper of the Beast German? because it sounds like it.) But any songs like that I would like.

I don't know about music categories... sorry if I got some wrong. But I assume you can get the general feel of the kind of music I like now. Some more recomendations to fill up my Ipod would be appreciated!
Why do people complain about things? Why can't they just be happy that they were made for them?
I respect everyone's right to not like something, but complaining about it will acomplish nothing...

For the Japanese rap/pop/rock here's my list of artist for ya:

Dragon Ash-(kind of a mix of rock/rap, similar to Linkin Park)
M-flo(rap)
Crystal Kay(r&B)
Maaya Sakamoto(kind of pop mixed with folk)
BoA Kwon-(R&B/pop)
Ayumi Hamasaki(u've probably already heard of her)
Bennie K-(R&B)
Chemistry(R&B)
Do As Infinity(rock)

I have more on my list but this is just a starter

Hrm. Now, by Spanish music, are you only referring to Spain, or is any Hispanic music okay? I'm more familiar with cumbia and banda than flamenco or the other Spanish styles.

http://www.flamenco-world.com/flamenco.htm looks like a pretty good page for finding out about flamenco.

For the German stuff I'd recomend Rammstein. They're good and popular enough that people are starting to hate them based on there popularity. Oto might recomend a russian band called DDT and his dad for some flamenco spanish stuff.

For the German Music:
-Rammstien
-Megaherz
-Die Arzte

Top 3 song by each, at least in my view:
-Sonne, Tier, Engel
-5. Marz, Herzblut, I.M. Rumpelstilzchen (the whole Herzwerk CD is good)
-Immer Mitten in die Fresse rein, Bitte Bitte, Schrei nach Leibe

Well there ya go, hope it helped a bit.

I have to say though, that unlike Rammy, DDT isn't really half as fun if you don't understand the lyrics.
As for my dad's music - he does indeed play some 'traditional spanish stuff', but I'd say as opposed to relaxing, it's generally rather energetic flamenco music.

Here are some suggestions:

Rap/Hip-Hop:
Madvillain
Nujabes
Madlib
Fat Jon

Rock/Hard Rock:
Pain
Rammstein
In Extremo

J-Pop/J-Rock:
Dir En Grey
Malice Mizer

Other suggestions for the open-minded:
Sigh - Avant-garde Postblack Japanese Metal/psychedelia
Ween - Genre-busting music geeks who do it all
Leftover Crack - Punk that crosses all genres
Primus - Redefining what is viewed as music
I fear the little people.

why not some good old fashioned vehemence, or maybe pig destroyer, macabre also makes some fun songs to listen to

Nah Hispanic in general. I tried some of that flamenco, some of it is good, but I found quite a bit of things 'too energetic" if you get my point. Relaxing fits me best when it comes to hispanic music. However those were ok to.

Ahhh, can't belive I never tried Rammstein before. That's pretty good music for my ears. Thanks.

Hmm, checking those out... they're not that bad. Thanks for the recomendations.

Keep 'em coming, I've got plenty of space left for music searching!

OH, I also need a fast placed, kind of arabian theme music. I'm going to make a Tsubasa Chronicle action AMV for it. So if you have any recomendations for that I need it as well.
