The Wired Knight got it. It's Battle Athletes (technically it's Battle Athletes Victory). Let thistledown come on and confirm though. But I'm 99% sure.

I don't know... I am beginning to think it's either Robotech: The Macross Saga or Gundam... it really has that Sci-Fi feel to it; not to mention it looks like the visual quality is from around that time.

Actually after doublechecking I know I'm right, check out Kevin Caldwell's Believe video. That exact same shot is used in the video. I'll wait for confirmation while I track down a cap to use.
