Keeping Premiere Pro open even when I'm not using it helps sometimes. For me, the hardest part is getting started.

Sometimes I feel I can't go on anymore with this, whether it's due to lack of ideas, other parts of life closing in, emotional troubles or simple hatred for the worse parts and people of this hobby.

And then when I get over that mood, I have newfound inspiration. ;)

When I get burned out, I go suicidal.

Wait.

That's not right.

No...when I get burned out - true experience, too - I stop editing. In my most extreme case, I didn't edit a particular video for four months. I opened the project many times, but I never did anything. Finally, after that amount of time I spent just staring at it, I edited the rest of it in a couple of days.

I haven't really done a serious project since. My newest one is a serious project, and I find myself slowing down on that one, too. So, you know what I've been doing? Playing videogames. That always does the trick for me.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Hope you get your motivation back.

I barely ever work on AMV's cause my true calling is Flash toons. Just the thought of finishing it helps me move along, and for feedback.

When I get frustrated working on a project, I set it aside and do some little quick and quirky video just for fun. Clears my head a little, and gives me a cheap laugh.

Once I get into the actual editing part, I'm usually full steam ahead. Ripping footage, however, tends to drag. When I start getting tired, I take a break (sometimes an hour, sometimes whole day) and do something else. Watching my favorite AMVs also motivates me to get back on track.

Editing is for fun. If it starts feeling like work, for the sake of all humanity STOP!
Build a man a fire, and he will be warm for a night. Set a man on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life.
