Well you're doing you best to prove that people do indeed care when I critisize. IcyCloud, that is a good point, but I did watch the few videos that received to highest rating from this very community, so I was lead to believe that they were top notch. Also, if I watch each and every video around here to discover that most of them suck, then it will truly have been a waste of time, no? If you go back to the origins of this thread, you will see that I was first and foremost asking for directions as for what to watch, and if I ask people what they think I might like, it does sorta make sense to tell them what I don't like.

Not so much when you criticize their videos.

What I'm trying to do is tell you that I think you're expecting things out of AMVs that you probably won't ever get. That's all.

If you wish to continue to be antagonistic about this, feel free. I don't know how far it'll get you, though.

Followed up, of course, with the usual "...unless you make it yourself" line. But anyway.

Actually. You may be interested in Nightowl and gambitt's Mad World and Playground Love.

I'm not trying to be antagonistic, I got what I wanted out of this thread from Otohiko, Scintilla and then later Bakadeshi, and everything else was just in response to whatever else was thrown at me. *schrugs* And if I'm going to respond, I may as well voice my own opinion in doing so. I'm quite satisfied with the outcame, and if this thread also helped establish that few people around here would like me if we met socially, well, then that's a pretty neat little bonus.

Cheers.

Not so much as people would hate me. "Put up or shut up" seems to be taken with more hostility than simply describing how you think something sucks.

1)AMVs aren't meant to be feature length or even short length films here. They are videos made for a fandom, not high art(unless you're Beowulf ;p)
2)In my viewpoint, the opinion/rating system is largely fueled by ego. Many use it for hopes of constructive criticism but many also just like being told they did a good job and get a pat on the back. I usually don't release my videos on the net and just keep them to groups of friends in real life myself.
3)Most editors are doing this cause they enjoy it. They do it for that spark of creativity that they enjoy. It's fun.

You seemed to come in with the notion you were going to open some eyes and get people to agree with you. When you met with oppossition on your opinion you labeled it resistance. A wee bit egotistical

Like has been said, either hang around for a while and try to understand, or just stop complaining and go do/watch/read/listen to whatever you enjoy.

Just like you feel like I'm trying to tell you that liking AMV's is dumb, which I'm not, I sometimes get the impression that people are telling me that you'd have to be a total moron not to love AMV's, which I also don't really believe. It's a pretty natural thing to happen, I guess. Let's not turn this into some epic struggle between good and evil.

well technically we have our own tastes in what we like, or else people wouldnt continue to make AMVs of all kinds...

I've seen some Maroon 5 videos that resemble AMVs in storyline type videos.

and as for the Thugs, their Bling Bling and their greassy women - there are several "Fanservice" videos out there that can satisfy peoples needs for bouncy boobs...

I for one would rather see an animated woman bouncing around than some greesy woman rubbing herself next to the camera, but I have no interest in seeing that as I am not exactly a lesbian. (and Most Lesbians I know arent into bling bling videos anyways)
(this isnt against the music genre just the videos that come out of it, I have seen several good Rap/R&B/hiphop AMVs that I enjoied)

youre right that a good number of videos are very random, but the opinion forms are there so more skilled video editorers can help the "less skilled". (or so has helped me in improving my videos)

but in some cases you can lead a horse to water, but you cant make it drink...

Either way, it might be better to actually state what kind of video or genre youre looking for, as MVs come in all various forms, from Fanvideos to comedy, dance, effects, or others...

I agree that that happens alot. I have friends that are really into anime that tell my friends that aren't that they just haven't seen the really good ones

Just seemed you came in on a high horse. Tastes are different, you don't like it then you don't like it. We like it then we like it
