Xvid Crashes Editors??
I just switched to a different editor, and this episode i have, still crashed it. Powerdirector 4. Is it because it might be Xvid? Why would it crash it if its Xvid, and is there a way to take that episode video, and re make it with a different codec thats more stable?

XviD isn't bad because it crashes editors. It's bad because it's a lossy codec. You should edit directly from ripped DVDs using AVIsynth.
But if you're going to be a bastard and edit with stuff that you downloaded from Kazaa, then fine, just load your XviD file into VirtualDub and save as a HuffYUV file.
VirtualDub and HuffYUV can be found via Google.

What if i put the XVid file into the editor and remade it using the 3ivx D4 4.5.1 pro video codec. then would it be safe to use as the source footage?

well mainly just the "You should edit directly from ripped DVDs using AVIsynth" part... My editor can import the VOB files directly into it. would that be better than editing it in AVIsynth?the Black Monarch wrote:What part of "You should edit directly from ripped DVDs using AVIsynth" didn't you understand?
