Alright guys. It has begun. Round Two is officially underway. So you may feel free to begin scheduling your matches. The same rules apply for availability. You need to be available not only for when you schedule, but 24 hours ahead of time as well in order to pick your source.
There are some new additions/changes/ammendments to the rules for Round Two, so listen up.
IF YOU ARE A COMPETITOR IN ROUND TWO, YOU HAVE TO READ THIS. YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THESE RULE CHANGES GOING INTO YOUR MATCH.
Editing Time:
Starting with this round, competitors now have the OPTION of editing for either 2 or 3 hours. However, both players need to agree on a time. However, the original time of 2 hours will be the default value. Meaning, if you don't say anything about editing for 3 hours, then you will be going for 2 (although I will more than likely ask you which you want). Also, if one person wants to go for 3, but the other person doesn't, then you will edit for 2.
Genres:
This is a brand new addition to the tournament dynamic. This applies to how you will go about choosing your source list. Here's how it goes. We have a list of 6 different genres. For each song in Round 2, we (myself and Rozard) have assigned either 1 or 2 genres out of a potential 6. The 6 genres are:
Drama
Romance
Comedy
Action
Fun
Experimental
Now. Anytime before your match (more than likely, sometime on the day or the day before you are going to pick sources), I will tell you (or you can ask me or Rozard) THREE genres. Your song falls under at least 1 of those. So, for example. Lets say your song is "In The End" by Linkin Park (and NO, that is not one of the songs). I would say "Drama, Action, Fun". Now, you could apply both drama and action to the song, but more than likely not Fun (depending on what you're going for obviously). So, this tells you that the song does not fall under Romance, Comedy, or Experimental (again, it COULD depending on how you edit it, but for the sake of example, lets say it doesn't). So when you go to make your list of sources, you can take this into account.
Now, you might say "But Brad, isn't genre fairly subjective?" Well, yeah. But at least this way, you have SOME form of guide to give you a better idea on a source choice. You may also say "But Brad, I don't HAVE any 'fun' or 'comedic' anime." Well, had I not told you the genres, you would've gotten the song anyway and would've had to deal with it regardless.
Changes to what prep work is allowed:
This wasn't really too big of a problem in Round 1, but it was a loophole nonetheless that I want to get rid of now. In terms of what prep work you can do before your editing time, keep this in mind. All editing (and that's NOT including stuff done in Premiere ONLY) of the video footage outside of editing the source for quality (putting together a cleaning script, etc.) is prohibited. Meaning, you cannot take your source footage and start creating masks in Photoshop/AE, or creating photomosaics or what-have-you. You should treat these matches like you would treat a live Iron Chef match at a convention. You wouldn't be bringing pre-done masks or anything to one of those matches, and you shouldn't do it here either.
Song Length:
Songs this round (and ongoing) are "normal" length songs (roughly 3-5 minutes)
Well, that's about it. Remember the source list is still FIVE items long. That hasn't changed.

Thanks for making that official, that's something I always worry about.AtomX wrote: Changes to what prep work is allowed:

Good luck to all those in round 2
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.
