Cosplay: Would you do it?
Most of the cosplay I've seen has been pretty bad, and the cosplayers themselves mostly dumpy losers. There are many exceptions though, so it may be something that could be "cool" by popular standards someday. At least, the potential is there if the idea is marketed well.
Anyhow, has anyone here cosplayed before? If so, post pics if you have them, good or bad. What are your experiences with cosplay and cosplayers in general? Is the majority crazy or real human beings? A circle of friends that I have has been talking about cosplaying somewhere this summer, so I've been considering taking part, so that's the purpose of this whole information gathering topic. Personally, I have mixed feelings because of my past experience and the general stigma around cosplay in general.

I do, and I'm sure I'm not the only one here. Yes, there are a lot of people who make horrible costumes and don't put any effort into it at all, and that's where the dumpy loser stigma you've seen comes from. However, there are a lot of good ones as well who make beautiful costumes. It's still a nerdy hobby either way. *shrug*
Anyway, you should head over to cosplay.com or cosplaylab if you want to see pictures of cosplayers.
