Danny Elfman > John Williams

Although I wish he'd show a little more variety.

I agree completely.

(but would also like to avoid the confusion that i'm totally hate JW, I think how he arranges music so it better fits the soundtracks of music is incredibly well done, and he's excallent at it , which is why half of hollywood hires him to do it. but i still get a bit Irked when I think he won an award for life time achievement in composing.)

What do you mean by making music? He composes music and he conducts it too.

*Sigh* Actually yes it was kind of a joke on John Williams music sounding the same but it was also a jab at him tending to rip off ... mabey rip off is too strong a phrase ... so I'll go with "be Heavily Influenced" by other composers and works.

The single most famous and notable example is the comparison between The Imperial march, and Holsts Mars (From Holsts the planets)

Some lesser Star Wars examples include Dvorak's 9th, and Wagner's Ring series.

And more reacently, (and i also think more shamelessly) John Williams has been "Heavily influenced" by Danny Elfman ¦:/
Oh, I don't care anymore. I like him and that's just it. Sorry I didn't get the joke. :x

From Bauzi:
:? I think you will know what comes next:
Marilyn Manson - Seizure of Power
And this is not, because of the sucees of Decoy´s AMV! I just like the song, the rythm. The whole hard thing what makes Marilyn Manson (for me) special.

The second one is (thx to god if you know the band):
Apartment 26 - Bonustrack (from the album "Music for the Massive")
I liked always the band because of the often used piano fiting with the other things. This song has a nice melody and fits with depressing audio effekts in the background.

The next one is made by a friend of mine:
Skaven - They Crave
Well my friend is not in the music business, but works for a TV station and composes songs for one tv channel. He made this one in his freetime. For me the song is great, because he made it all alone with his PC. A super beat, mixed with a melodie, sound effekts and e-guitar makes it wonderful...

"Classical Gas" by Mason Williams ranks right up there for me. Sorry if my tastes are a bit old fashioned.
