Something I'd like to say is that, to the extent of my knowledge, the act of making AMVs is still covered by fair use. It's the distrobution of AMVs which pushes them into illegality. If you own the DVD and the CD, you have paid for the licenses to personal use of the video and audio on them. This doesn't mean it's the end of AMVs.

AMVs were around longer than local downloads or the org itself. If worst came to worst the community would return to the mailing lists, LJ, and other underground decentralized areas. Anyways, we have a ways to go before that happens.SuperFusion wrote:With the responses I've seen, it seems uploading is as or more important than the AMV itself to people.Rozard wrote:This doesn't mean it's the end of AMVs.

People are still gonna bitch. So it really doesn't matter what the Org does.Corran wrote:AMVs were around longer than local downloads or the org itself. Perhaps, but a centralized download site isn't the main purpose of this site, and its absence won't dissolve the AMV community. There are other means of distribution aside from the Donut. AMVs have been made and distributed before the Org existed, and I'm sure they will be still if this site ever were to go offline.SuperFusion wrote:With the responses I've seen, it seems uploading is as or more important than the AMV itself to people.Rozard wrote:This doesn't mean it's the end of AMVs.
