Are you generous in your voting/ratings?

I find that, when I vote for banners, I usually vote for just about all of them. I mean, someone went through the trouble to make and submit the banner so, unless I find it offensive or unreadable, I usually vote it worthy.

When it comes to reviewing AMVs I tend to go with a three or higher for most. Sometimes a two if it's really not very good. Almost never a one. I only give ones to those that look like they were no effort or concern for quality. (Like the first one I ever did. "Girls." It took me 30 minutes and is really just a poorly timed slide show with many of the photos out of focus.) Something has to be this bad or worse to get a one from me.

Now maybe it's the time of year, or maybe it's the time of man, but as of late I find myself more and more tempted to say, "enough of this crap," and start handing out more ones and voting down more banners.

Maybe it's time for a break? Maybe I've just been viewing too many AMVs lately.

Hey....i thought girls was funny. Dont bash on the funny vid.

ahem....anyways. i feel myself obligated to sometimes give a one when i dont see any work at all. when a person grabs an episode and puts it to music then post it on the site without even watching it to make sure it at least makes sense. Thats one material, unfortunately ive seen some videos like that.

I am very generous when I give ratings to amvs. But that's because I only leave opinions to the ones I know I can say a lot about or the ones that are actually good. 114 videos and I've only left 23 opinions and none of my scores are below and 8.5 at this point. I just don't have the heart to leave an opinion for a video that has bad footage, bad sync, etc. Even if it is just constructive criticism, I hate to see opinions where the bad box is bigger than the good box.

For banners, if it features a male character, or something other than a prepubescent girl with a 'come molest me I'm a cute wittle baby' expression, I click worthy. It only takes a few seconds to go through the banner voting - I can click them all unworthy while they load and usually I only find one I can change to worthy (on a good day there might be three, usually they're all 4yr old girls eating something or pouting - I miss the big breasted anime babes...).

For vids, I go by whether I liked them. If I loved it, it gets a 5 (whether it's good technically or not). If I liked it, but don't love it, it gets a 4 (regardless of technical issues). If I didn't like, but wouldn't mind watching again, I give a 3. If I wouldn't watch the vid again, but thought the vid was good enough for other people to like (difference of taste/tolerance to quality/etc), I give a 2. If I'd die before watching, wish I'd never downloaded, and pray my worst enemies have the vid on repeat for eternity, it gets a 1.

Scores in the opinion section is different. I have a lot of scales that depend on too many factors to go into here. I'm lenient - average of 8 all around, but I'm blunt on reviewability - average of 6 since I rarely review vids I really hated.

I'm very honest. Most banners (i'd say around 98%) get an unworthy vote from me. My average star rating is rather high because i don't usually download random videos, but even still it's 2.88 right now (with about 200 videos). Yes, given the quality of vids i watch, that's rather high.

For ops, my averages are as follows:

Original 6.64
Capture 5.45
Sound 7.45
Action 5.55
Lip 9.00
Effects 7.40
Effort 6.27
Review 4.91
Overall 5.55

All are below the site average, but all are higher than statisistical average...
I need to write more opinions.. In fact i downloaded 40 random videos and began to write long ops for all of them prior to a complete system meltdown. These were random downloads (most were complete garbage) so my op scores would have fallen a bit more than they are now at. I'll try this little project again if i remember to when i actually have the time...

When I vote banners, nowadays I search originality, even if well made, now I vote unworthy a banner that I think is only a copy of another one with another girl standing for.

By the way, sometimes there are some people that have nice ideas.. Originality is what I search in our banners.

About AMVs...
I'm completely honest. If a video deserve a 2 in a category or more, it will have that score from me, the same if it deserve a 10. Sincerity at 100%, but, answering more directly your question.. No, I'm not really generous.

i think i am generous in my ratings of AMVs.never voted on banners so i cant say. but with AMVs...i take the op section seriously cuz it's after my FIRST watch and how i felt DURING the video. i tend to score high unless the clips were just completely horrendous, the sound kept fading in and out (yes someone actually did that...), or the effort was just...BLEH. i tend to give at least 7's on everything. when i get opinions from other ppl i am shocked that i got maybe a 3, 4, or 5 on something. but that shows i have stuff to improve on. generosity counts in op-ping, but if that generosity doesnt let the person know where he/she can improve, then it's not worth it

I am very lenient with ops. Usually. The scores anyhow. As far as banners, I've taken on the practice of voting down any banner with a girl in it. Unless it's HIGHLY original or funny. And that's only happened once.
