You should probably check out Boogiepop Phantom. A completely unique and very dark piece of work that keeps you glued to the screen every minute of all twelve episodes. The dramaturgy resembles that of movies like Magnolia or Playing by Heart, except the way it's executed makes it a lot more interesting. Episode five contains a truly classic scene that recurs several times and is one of my top fifteen favorite scenes of all time, counting both anime and movies. Without spoiling anything; it contains the memorable line "Hey, Tanaka, haven't we had this conversation before?"
By the way, is RahXephon worth checking out?

I cant figure out how Elfen Lied resulted in you wanting to watch something "mature and serios".Banana_Boat wrote:I just finished watching Elfen lied, and wanted some recommendations as where to proceed from this anime forward. Im looking for something mature and serious.

If mature and serious = violent and dark then I recommend Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade. It's a movie.
