Hey, Crispan Freeman and Rachel Lillis weren't that bad when they're Touga and Utena respectively. Though some of the side characters were a hit or miss (I'm not totally impressed with Sharon Becker's Anthy though).

Utena is a tomboy and it really shows in the japanese version... but before I ever even heard it, the dub was annoying the heck out of me.... Just a case of really rubbing me the wrong way, but it was completely different when I heard the sub.

I am not down on dubs. There are many dubs that I prefer to the subs and many subs that I prefer to the dubs. This was just one of the cases where I think they really missed the mark.

And if I didn't stick to dubs, I would've NEVER known about the GENIUSES of the following:

Spike Spencer
Brett Weaver
Tiffany Grant
Jason Douglas
Jessica Calvello
Mark Hildreth
Dan Woren
Greg Snegoff
Alexandra Kenworthy

And SEVERAL others....

I guess he was mistaken.... You have heard a lot of dubs, you just have bad taste. :P

Just kidding... Preferences are a matter of taste. Neither of you are correct, you are just giving your opinions... and right and wrong have nothing to do with opinions...

Whatever the case is, there's NOTHING anybody can say or do to steer me away from dubs. NOTHING.

I've actually come across an anime that is better dubbed than in the origonal language. I don't know about anyone else but Chrno Crusade just doesn't sound right in Japanese. The story takes place in America and most of the characters are American. Then you've got the other end of the spectrum, an anime that takes place in Japan with Japanese characters will sound better in Japanese, most of the time. Youv'e also got to take into account how a person first watches the anime. Take Naruto for example, almost everyone that doesn't like the dub watched the show in the origanal language. Then when they watch it in english the characters don't sound right because you were expecting something closer to the origanal.

I've noticed that, actually...
Hellsing, for example, just makes much more sense to hear in English to me since it's taking place in Britain.

On the other end of the spectrum, one of the things that bugged me about Dunbine dubbed into English was the fact it screwed with one of the elements of the show (there's a part early on where Shou is surprised to find he can communicate with other characters brought to Byston Well from America even though he only really speaks Japanese. Naturally, this winds up seeming REALLY odd in English dub.)

Actually I've watched all of Love Hina in english and enjoyed it. I hadn't heard the origional VAs, still haven't as a matter of fact, or the vocal minority that seems to despise it with such a great hatred.

Who knows though, I might just be really easy to please.
