Anyone who gives a video a low originality score just because it uses a commonly used anime is not someone I'd want to waste my time worrying about.Rurounikeitaro wrote:I'm trying to make as many AMV's of it before the point people start automatically giving 8's for originality.Garylisk wrote:I personally think that Bleach is a good action oriented show. I think it's a lot more well thought out than Naruto or DBZ, so I give it a big thumbs up. I would definitely say that it's going to have just as big an influx of stupid and poorly made AMVS (That's already begun), but there are sure to be some great ones, too.
Judge the concept, people. Not the video and audio choice.

In my opinion I believe the show isn't just another DBZ because the viewer is able to connect with the characters. While Bleach does deal with Ichigo fighting enemy after enemy, its overall appearance is still much different from DBZ. For instance the whole plot revolves around Ichigo realizing his ability to connect with the dead and becoming Death in order to uphold justice, which is a concept never seen before. While DBZ could only hold a continuous process of fighting in order to keep viewers interested, Bleach is able to mix things up by including various characteristics of what makes an anime series legendary.

OK Is Bleach pointless? interesting question, does the plot have a point... probably, hard to tell. Does the show itself have a point Yes of course. the point is entertainment. Now for the comparison issues. Here is something new, Harry Potter, Insanely popular Childrens literature. Naruto Insanely popular Young Boys anime / manga, bleach also becoming very popular...Now Why? Amazing intricate plots? Fascinating unique deep characters? No All three of the things, as well as most other popular children's literature and TV shows follow the same formulaic properties. It's especially evident in the shonen T.V. shows because they are aimed at children.
Let me spell it out for you, Almost All popular Children's literature (this is true for T.V. as well the more I think about it.)
you start off with a hard done by, often mischievous kid, often with one or both parents dead.
you make the kid very identifiable to many children by showing him as your average or below average kid (in the world he lives in)
you make that kid go through hardships and discover he has a hidden power that makes him stronger or more special then all the other people around him (thus playing into many children's fantasies hell i wanted to be better then everyone else when i was a kid too)
throw in a love interest that loves someone else, and a shy girl that loves said kid for the girls set it in some form of cool fantasy world and Boom you got a successful book / manga / t.v. show.
This is a very specific formula that goes though popular children's entertainment for all the way back to the days of Fairy tales. (Cinderella anyone?)
All of these stories have the same conservative formulaic process but it's something that we can identify with and it draws us in time and time again. And fuck it it is entertaining, (even if now as an adult a little insulting to my intelligence, but that wont stop me from watching it and remembering being a kid and having all the same hopes and dreams.)

I don't care who translates or distributes it; I probably won't watch the English version anyway. At least the kids will have a good anime to watch if comes over here. The lack of voice acting quality will be their problem.
You're lucky... I've decided to let you live to see the day when I will rule the world.

Yeah, I probably wouldn't watch the dub of Bleach either but I would have to see it a couple times just to see how my friends will be watching it. I just hope they don't do something stupid and give Ichigo Dave Lucas's voice. He works good for Spike, Mugen, and Onizuka but not for every badass young adult.

I'll play devils advocate here: I think MORE anime should be dubbed. Although I like the original voices about 98% of the time, that's probably because voice acting is such a big deal in Japan, and thus more talent is in the pool. If Voice acting were a bigger deal over here, then maybe we'd see a similar shift in talent.
Is it just me, or does it seem like the build up for the fights is way, way overdone? I mean, sure lots of the fights are cool, That cat chick for example had a pretty great fight, and it lasted what... two eps, with maybe an ep or so as build up. Ichigo's fight with uh... that eye patch dude had how many eps to build up to it?
It's almost to the point where it's a pain to watch one ep at a time.
