I've been working on a new AMV and I think if it does well at the org I'm gonna enter it. really puting my butt off into this (been workin on it for like a week already xD)

But I was wondering like I remember back in 2004 they had a feature that allowed you to upload your MPEG2 files to some sort of FTP...what ever happened to that?

That was the year that Quu and Otaku Video were helping out with the technical side of things. He dropped off the AMV scene in 2005.

But if Antonio could get an FTP solution together for 2006, I agree that would be great.

Priemere cooperate that'll be the day. lol. Well I have about a minute done of my Otakon AMV so I should have the rest finished by February. I decided to get started on it way earlier this year after last year not recieving a lot of notice. This year looks like it'll turn out better. The deadline posted 4 1/2 months in advance is really a good start.

Well I look forward to this years competition. Good luck to everybody.

this is good news. I just started mine a few weeks ago in anticipation but this is a big step in the right direction. last year was great compaired to the year before, but there's always room for improvment. I will say that Compatiction this year is going to be very good considering the Masters Comp doesnt exsit anymore. Now all thoughs creaters who spend only enough time creating an AMV for the Master can submit into this contest. shivers

I started working on my Otakon AMV back in the last week of November. I was inticapating the deadline to be March or something along those lines. Last year wasn't much notice, but this year looks a little better. This amv I'm working on right now is a little more difficult than I thought it would be, but I'll defidently will have it finished before the deadline. Well good luck to everyone who is entering the contest this year.

The rules say, in part:
II. AMV CONTENT RULES
01. COMPONENTS/INGREDIENTS OF SUBMISSIONS
B. Anime Music Videos cannot incorporate the subtitles or dubbed sound from licensed commercial translations. The companies that license and produce these commercially translated versions of anime attend the convention, and we just don't need grief from them over this issue.
Would this mean that I could not submit this AMV because of the parts toward the end where you hear the character's speaking in English?

That means you can't use the english voices, but if you did the japanese voices with your own subtitles then that would be fine. A Rurouni Kenshin video back in 2003 got DQed because of the dubbed voices only speaking 3 lines. So if you can change that before the contest I think it would be fine.
