2005 was a pretty good year for me, editing-wise. I tried some different genres and experimented a bit. Worked a bit on rotoscoping (though I haven't used it yet), refined my lip-sync techniques, had the experience of editing with video game footage, and learned some other odds and ends.
As for contests, I was fortunate to have done fairly well at conventions (was especially glad about AWA, as the competition is at such a high level). Also participated in Iron Chef for the first time (followed by other Iron Chef entries of the #amv persuasion). It was also my first year entering AWA Pro, and I really enjoyed it.
All in all, it's been an exciting year, and I look forward to 2006.

I'm rather glad I made this topic. Interesting to see/read about other people's years. Expecially in regards to AMVs.

Giggle...CORN!...I've known about Corn for years, and can easily state I am the FIRST person to edit The Corn.

Congradulations JaddziaDax!

I went through enough crap in my personal life that would make anyone consider retiring but I decided to stand above it and not let it get me down.

----------------

I made a video after almost getting into a really bad car accident which turned out to be extremely successful.

I participated in nearly all the major MEPs.

I coordinated and said goodbye to the final incarnation of the first major MEP I joined. It was like watching your child grow up and finally letting it go.

I made the most insane video I could think of and sent it to AWA masters..

I finally made a video with a source I've always wanted to use for a long time and sent it to AWA pro.

Last, but not least, thanks to most you jerks, I created the biggest video I have ever done and am extremely thankful for it. :x :P :)

----------------

2005 has been an extremely productive year for me. While I wish some of the personal stuff I went through never happened. I'm glad I decided to do something about it. I'm not sure of my 2006 plans but I won't worry about them now. :)

and most importantly.... CORN![/url]

Same as last year:

Only one video completed.
That video was another game trailer.
Held off on working on an actual AMV to make a trailer under the assumption that it would be easier.
A lot of procrastination.

New this year:

Made a video that doesn't contribute to the Most Used Anime and/or Music lists.
Won at a con - Best Trailer: Anime USA (still doesn't do much for my hits or downloads)

Next year:

If all goes well, I should be done with school at the end of April. Until then, nothing. After that, depending on how long it takes me to find work, I might have some free time and a lot of ideas that have been piling up.
I'll have to try something else besides trailer videos.
Final Doom "Amazing things will happen here soon."

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Substance "Everyone knows that it's a dangerous substance."

I didn't do much outside of MEP work and also said goodbye to a very fun MEP this year. The AMV Hell 0 stuff was alot of fun because it allowed me to do alot of mini videos I wanted to do anyway but knew full versions would never hold up. I don't have much planned for next year, I don't watch enough anime anymore to span ideas like I used to.

well, lets see - as this is my first year here (well, a year in a few months), I guess that I've made my best and worse vid in the last year. Contests - well, of course I entered my first vid in a few (I think 6 at last count...) and I am still in love with it! I also did my first MEP and that was so fun, would love to do another.

I experienced my first ever anime convention and got drafted into its ranks (actually, more like I got assimilated like part of the Borg collective). I also saw my first attempt at a MEP with other newbie editors (which I don't think any are on this site) die a horrible death of neglect and lack of time, but maybe it can be resurrected at a later time.

other than that, met a bunch of nice folks here, started becoming a journal junkie, getting more ambitious with my prospective videos (just got to get the time to implement them), decided that I need a faster computer at home, etc etc...

whee! and next year, I may have a lot of time to edit... that is if I get a good job opportunity! whee!

Overall this has been a good AMV year for me. I got 2 convention awards this year and 2 second places in online competition. I am doing my first (hopefully) successful MEP contribution. Being in the MEP I have learned a little bit more about AE which is always good for enhancing style a little.

There was that time where I didn't know if I could make AMVs anymore. Making crazy AMV shorts got me over that. Then I finally made a video that had the potential of being better than my Ghost of Self video but got pulled since it was Evanescene. Actually Ghost of Self got pulled for the same reasons. -_- Now my best videos are hidden in an abyss.

Next year I'll have a little more time since I'm not working on as many things at once. Only problem is that I will take more classes for the internship so AMV output might be slower than it was this year. There is also the fact that next year might be my last year to actively do AMVs since I might be starting graduate school next fall. Until then I still have 1 AMV in the making, and I got an idea for the video for ACen. This will be with new editing software I'll get this weekend so let's hope for the best.

In short it's a year I'll remember until I become senile.

Although only 1 week before the year ends I finally decided to give After Effects another chance and I'm glad I did :D
