New Cowboy Bebop - The Movie - Amv

This is my first time visiting this site and my first time in making and uploading an amv.
It's all about the Cowboy Bebop movie having an awesome instrumental background song.
It's derived from the french band "The Old Dead Tree" which is actually a Dark-Metal band. Despite of this, the here-used instrumental is rather quiet.
To my intention:
As the movie has many different, so-called layers, I tried to capture them according to the music which you, when you hear exactly, can divide into 7 twenty-seconds-parts and one part consisting of 10secs. I'm pretty proud about the ending.
Moreover, I'd like to thank Jannek Lykos(actually it's Likos
) for giving me the movie and introducing me in the world of animes plus Jophel Stang who did the upload for me.

The programs i used were Virtual Dub in combination with Pinnacle Studio9 (for cutting) and Photoshop 6 (for pictures).
I dealt with the outro in the following way:
I first took out the opening of Cowboy Bebop, then divided it (when picture position changes), prepared my credits with photoshop and finally covered the Cowboy Bebop credits with my own in Virtual Dub (Video - Filters - Logo).
Seeing forward to watch your AMV... well then, see ya!

Ermmmm Sounds a bit complicated... I haven't got those programs But thanx for the advise anyway... U see i am a noob and i have made 12 AMVs with windows movie maker... But what can u do right?I have adobe premiere pro 7.0 but it's so freaking complicated... Again awesome AMV man...Simply awesome

To bad. I first tought I might enjoy it, but when I saw you edited with Pinnacle I got my doubts and I was right but that wasn't even the biggest problem. You used a source with subs, which is the downfall of every editor that's truly a big No-no and thus the visual quality is just horrorible (and you fucked up the AR). Sad to say but same goes for the music which I tought would be at least one thing I might be happy about, but it sounds blured and somehow shitty even tough you didn't even compress it.

I don't want to sound rude but this is certainly not a good amv. And what about the outro it was nearly as long as the video itself (it's ought to be like 5 - 15 secs). I guess you have much room to improve, first of all get a good source (DVD or at least dualaudios) and then a good editor like Magix or Ulead if you have no money for Premiere or even AE. Then you have at least the possibities to do something good. I hope I wasn't to hard on you.

I definitely see what you're heading for, but:
considering what you said you almost only critizise the optical quality of my vid. as I already said I am limited because
a) I don't have money and
b) I have a so-called 56k-modem running with only 32k
moreover , I don't think that a good amv is determined by its visual quality. you may be a pro at this field, but at this moment I only had these programs (I later also realized the bad parts about Pinnacle)...
and I think the scenes match quiet good to the music (which isn't bad quality as I downloaded the vid for a try).
But somehow i do want to redo this AMV...because lately a friend of mine became the movie raw (without subs) and if I had better programs I would be able to transform this one into a super artificial one
so, in exchange could you tell me an alternative for virtualdub (because mine often sucks up) that's not bigger than 5mb to 7mb ?

Well first of all I'd say that neither a lack of money nor a dial up is an excuse. You're always able to get like 15 euros for a single DVD to edit with, and dial up only needs a bit (much) longer for the upload but I guess for let's say 60 hours (if your really doing something that takes effort) of editingfun it's ok to spend a bit money. About Pinnacle, well it's ok for just cuts n' fades (which is the basis for any good amv) so I guess if you try you can use it very efficently, but I know what I'm talking about since my brother used it for his amvs and they are not to bad, but I'd recommend something else (like I posted above).

And to be honest there isn't any good alternative for using virdubmod, since it's normally very stable and very useful (not only for compression). I use it for ages now and there isn't anything better in my opinion. I don't know what causes the crashes but it could be the videosource. Acutally I wouldn't recommend using something else here.

just to let you guys know, I'm constantly working on
the remastered version of my vid "as if there's no tomorrow..."

I think I'll be able to do a much better job with the new
programme, so:
