actually, neither really bothers me... but subs annoy me. It doesn't really matter, but if they are using something that can crop them out... then they should crop them out! :x
Why do people complain about things? Why can't they just be happy that they were made for them?
I respect everyone's right to not like something, but complaining about it will acomplish nothing...

Why...are these two things listed? They aren't even related to one another. This question doesn't make any sense.

I vote for "you sound like you're trying to win an argument with a friend over an AMV of yours, and are asking us to back you up." If so, you're an idiot.

Subtitles make the video look sloppy as hell. Plus it proves that the maker probably took the footage from an illegal fansub, which is just lazy and makes for shitty quality overall.

But no story makes me get really bored, really fast. I remember seeing a Samurai Champloo video that was some song over the first fight scene between Mugen and Jin. No beat sync, no story association, nothing. Big god damn yawn to that.

Subtitles can be ignored if the concept is clever enough. But no story is just boring and I'll quit watching it before it ends. I throw my hat towards a "no story" vote.

I find that most of the videos that are covered in subs will also be story/themeless...

most....

to me if it has a good concept and is well excecuted, subs can ruin it... but if it has a no concept no matter how pretty it is, that will ruin it as well...

but if it has no concept and is covered in subs, then I'll more than likely delete it after a partial viewing..

well... subtitles don't mean you have or don't have a 'story'. I, personally, HATE words. Think it's a chick thing as mostly only the fangirls ADD subtitles to their videos to add 'story'. Anyway back to how subtitles may not mean story cuz if the subs are from the anime, especially if their cut off at odd parts (fades are the WORST on subtitled media) than to me it's more likeley that they were just lazy and didn't buy/ rent the anime or at least crop them off. Every so often you have subs that, though they are from the anime, REALLY do add to your amv, these have to be very obvious to me for me to notice as I'm a pesimist ;p. But if you must do this, go ahead, just know you can't please everybody, your GONNA piss off SOME knucklehead :X

OK, this video has almost NO concept behind it whatsoever, no story either really.

Studio KZ's [url-http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=89045]Burning Fashion[/url]

... but it's Cromartie so go figure....

Oh, did I mention I'm currently in LOVE with audio edits, mostly use of DUBBED voices rather than subtitles?? Kinda' heretic of me as subs are pretty much the same thing, but... The only thing is, borrowing the commercial VA's voice as I did in my latest is not exactly cool as it infringes on a WHOLE NEW set of copyrite laws ;p.... it's best if you just use the effects like Without GTO or EOE tribute.

For example the old version of Right Here from inverse had subtitles  And it pwned! 8-)

So there are exceptions, but still subs will get my vote! >.<
