I have to say that Pretear has to be the ultimate conglomeration of almost every shoujo aspect there is from magical girl to petty teenage angst to male harem and so forth (though it did exclude shounen-ai, THANK GOD). Though I have to say, it was pretty addicting watching this even though I was able to predict what's going to happen next. Not to mention Himeno is one rare magical girl protagonist that actually KNOWS how to fight so to me that's a huge plus.
And is it just me, or this one of the few magical girl series that actually has some panty shots and tentacle monsters?

I love both the manga and the series. I got a kick out of the differences between the two (especially Kei's appearance - whoa). Of course all the manga couldn't be included, but one can enjoy either. When I first saw it, I did get a little annoyed at the outfits (too frilly). But it helps identify what power Himeno is using when you see her fighting. And I love the idea that each Leafe Knight has a different power related to the elements and that Himeno has to learn how to fight in combination with each of them
And, those who haven't seen the entire series yet may not want to read this yet. (If you've read the manga, it's okay):

This is also one of my mom's favorite series!Spoiler wrote:In the series, Shin, Hajime, and Mannen are the youngsters. It's explained in the manga that when the previous Pretear attacked, their Leafe was drained and they became children with no memory of what happened to them. In the series, the episode where Kei is telling the story to Himeno and it's shown flashback style) and you can see grownup versions of Shin, Hajime, and Mannen during the attack. The younger ones are angry because they weren't told about the fight with the original Pretear. That's not explained in the series.

BunofGovt, you've clearly gotten the two mixed up.
I I say that with no disrespect, because I'd prefere we keep things friendly, what about you? And I agree, with you on the outfit(s) subject. They were really insinct with her. While Hayate, Kei, Go, and Sasame, survived, only to start off from being infants. It was only in the manga, did the thrre younger ones, have memories of the whole drama, and in the anime that Kei finally decided it'd be best to tell them, of the past; that they had no memory, and were angered at the thought of not knowing all that, from the beginning.

Ooo, looks like it's time to pull out the manga and give it a re-read AND watch the series again. Actually, that's not a bad idea as it's one of the series I think is worth watching over again. Oh, and my favorite outfit ended up being the fire outfit from the series, pret'ing with Goh.NoonHeart wrote:BunofGovt, you've clearly gotten the two mixed up.
