I have an idea

Well i have had this idea for quite some time now, but has anyone tried to use older music for thier AMV's ? It seems about 90% of music is modern and to honest overused music, such as Linkin Park for instance, or some type of heavy metal where the guy whines and screams over an unaudioable guitar.

I listen to alot of old music, that never seems to be used for AMV"s that i think would have alot of potential. For instance Roy Orbison music would be perfect for love, and love lost but i rarely see it. (Three songs in particular stand out in my head as perfect "The Comedians" "The Black & White Version" a song of betray by freinds, espically the ending to the song would go good with a scence of an impeding death as "freinds" laugh in ignorance in another place). ("Careless Heart "Mystery Girl version" would go good with a break up with the paino playing in selected sections where one can view the person playing the song in the video, with the singer to the song). (For some reason i think that the paino player should have a beard and be smoking a cigar, don't know why but it fits the theme of that song). ("Your the one King of Hearts Version" this one would go good for a duet, with a scence change of the characters in dramatic events in the opening part of the song, which fits well).

Theres also songs by Rick Nelson, such as "Its a Young World" and "teenage Idol" which would work well in a comdeic and partily serious theme amv. There also alot of instrumental music that would fit well, such as works from "Secret Garden" which could work well in a "Relax themed amv" Like the song "Noturne". There is also good video game music particular the music from Shadow of the Colossus and Katamari Damacy that can work well in the "epic feel amv" and the "intruging werid amv themes".

My last idea is more of a pet project, that is far reaching but complex. Its what i call an AMV episode, in which 4 amv makers make 4 segements which comprise into an overall theme, but under thier differing views and apporach of the subject.

I use alot of old music in my AMVs. Most of my favorite music is old stuff. Most of the old music I listen to is from the 70s and 80s.

Most of the stuff i listen to is more solo artist, doing more romance music, other, most of the music that is used during this time by most people are the well know rock band or artist, that i am mainly not intersetted in, since they been done to death, and i don't particular care for most of that music.

Perhaps we as a community can give out certain scenarios without any specific design or path. For instance one could just use a combinations of 2 acts or forces, and have the indivdual interpert it in his own way. For example we could offer the sugestion: Shakespeare in NeoTokyo

A brief open ended concept, that allows many differrent interpetation yet still retains a basic concept which people can expand upon.[/b][/u]
