Anime being mainstream?

Post by Jelly_Beanz » Tue Jan 24, 2006 10:31 pm

How do you feel about anime being mainstream?

I don't like it at all. If you look on some channels, some anime is starting to be common. Soon, anime may become a trend, probably.
"Everything in this room is eatable. Even I'm eatable, but that is called canibalism, my dear children, and is in fact frowned upon in most societies." - Willy Wonka (Charlie and the Chocloate Factory) Hehehe...I love that quote.

I don't care. I'm not into anime because it was the unconformist thing. I like anime because it's good. anyway, I have no TV, so I don't even care if they mangle up anime for CN or some other random channel. I care when they do it to DVDs.

I like having a lot of people to talk with about stuff I like.

What's wrong with it being mainstream?

I think they're mad because they won't be nonconformist anymore, their underground-pop-culture-type like will become normal-pop-culture type stuff.

I don't care what is mainstream and what isn't.. I care about what I naturally like, I don't like things based on wether it's popular or not.

or something..

I remember the days when being an Anime fan was something you kinda kept hidden or else became a paraiha in your school; now, though, it's so mainstream, I not only can openly talk about it, I can freely mock people who only watch the crappy newer ones because they tend to suck in comparisson to older ones.

Couldn't have said it better myself. There's nothing wrong with anime being mainstream. Hell, it's pretty much mainstream in Japan. And with more people into it, that means that the market will be bigger and that means lower costs.

I realy dont give a fuck about the mainstream, pop culture or geek culture. People who care are too immature and narrow minded to consider individuality in fear of standing out.

Or at least more new anime.
